After leaving Westlake I head up to Ossining. The defending Class A sectional champs were in between sessions, confirming my knack for arriving just in time for teams NOT to be practicing.

At Ossining, though, I opted to stick around for an hour. I spent time in the coaches office with Dan Ricci and his staff. [...]

I got off to a late start on the camp trail this morning after covering the Yankees-Red Sox game last night at the Stadium. Two quick things on the game: the Yankees are as miserable off the field as they are on it. And Boston second baseman Dustin Pedroia is smaller than most Section 1 [...]

Unfortunately I didn't get out to any camps this afternoon. I was swamped in the office trying to edit and write stories for our football preview section (debut Sept. 5) and it was dark when I left.

The forecast today doesn't look great. Rain for part of the morning and afternoon but clearing later on. I'll be out in the afternoon making stops. I'm not sure where.

Back from my weekend at the Jersey Shore. Fun time, always.

My plan of stopping by Nanuet this afternoon was foiled by construction at the school and my ignorance to where the team actually practices. I drove around to where the team plays its home games, was detoured by a road being repaved and gave up when I found no sign of a football team practicing.

My tour of Rockland County continued this afternoon when I stopped by Clarkstown South. The team was in between practices when I arrived, so I tip-toed through the gym into the football offices.

I say 'tip-toed' because there was about 12 players sleeping on the gym floor. Not resting or lying down. They were dead asleep. [...]

There's an ongoing joke among Rockland County residents that I have some phobia of the Tappan Zee Bridge. I promise it's not a phobia. It's contempt. But not a phobia.
