A couple NCAA tournament-related stories from this week…
One year after scare, Isaiah Cousins is better than ever
When I talked to Isaiah Cousins Thursday, he seemed totally unfazed. If you remember, the 6-foot-4 guard from Oklahoma was shot last May during a brief visit home to Mount Vernon. He was a victim of a stray bullet fired between rival gangs on a nearby street.
Cousins certainly did not let the scare affect him. He has played his best this season for the Sooners, who enter tonight’s game with Michigan State as the highest-remaining seed in the East region.
Check out what Cousins had to say about the Sweet 16last year’s scare — and having Seth Davis’ face superimposed on his dancing body.
Jon Rothstein: CBS insider ‘insane’ for March Madness
I had a story in Thursday’s paper about someone who may not play in March Madness, but he sure does participate. It chronicled the fast ascent of CBS college basketball insider Jon Rothstein, a 31-year old from Mahopac who has built a burgeoning career thanks to an unmistakeable passion and obsession with the sport.
If you follow college basketball at all, you know Jon. This time of year, you can’t miss him. Give the story to read to find out what he’s really like.
