There are just four games on the schedule tonight, but two will determine coveted berths in next week’s championship games at Mahopac.
I’ll be up at John Jay to see the Patriots take on Mamaroneck. You can find my tweets @lohudinsider. Since there are only two games of high importance, expect constant updates throughout the night. (I won’t be chasing other scores.)
Mike Dougherty (@hoopsmbd) will be down at Yorktown for what should be an entertaining semifinal against Sleepy Hollow.
If you’re out at a game tonight and have something to share, please let us hear it. If not, and you’re going out for Halloween, be safe. And if you see a toddler in a ladybug costume, please be especially nice!
Enjoy the football, folks!

Class AA semifinal
John Jay-East Fishkill 34, Mamaroneck 33 (2OT): At John Jay, the Patriots scored on a 15-yard touchdown pass from Ryan Schumacher to Joe Lisowski with 8 seconds left in regulation to send the game to overtime. Both teams were stopped on the first possession of overtime. After John Jay’s Brad Belotti scored to give his team a 34-27 lead, Mamaroneck pulled within one on the final possession of the second OT when Bill Flatow hit Alex Parkinson on a 35-yard touchdown on third-and-25. John Jay then stopped Mamaroneck’s Marquez Jackson-Allen, Section 1’s leading rusher, well short of the goal line on the Tigers’ two-point conversion try.
Jackson-Allen (30 carries, 146 yards, 2 TDs) scored from 15 yards out to give his team a 27-20 lead with 10:20 to play. Mamaroneck then stopped John Jay when a fourth-and-short pitch to Belotti was fumbled and forced the Patriots to turn the ball over on downs. The Tigers then chewed up more than six minutes and burned John Jay’s final two timeouts on the ensuing drive, but their 25-yard FG try by Andrew Sommer was wide left and gave the Patriots the ball at the 20 with 1:22 left.
John Jay drove 80 yards in 10 plays for the tying score — a drive aided by a 15-yard personal foul on Mamaroneck. John Jay also converted a fourth-and-4 when Schumacher appeared to be wrapped up but was able to flip the ball to Belotti, who picked up the first down to extend the game.
Flatow finished the game 13 for 23 for 304 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions. Emerson Genovese had six receptions for 201 yards, including a 79-yard touchdown on his team’s second play from scrimmage.
Ryan Schumacher threw two touchdowns and Belotti rushed for three scores. Robbie Schumacher had 3 1/2 sacks.
John Jay will play the winner of Saturday’s semifinal between New Rochelle and Arlington in next week’s championship. The Class AA final is scheduled for noon on Saturday, Nov. 8 at Mahopac High School.
Class A semifinal
Yorktown 47, Sleepy Hollow 12: At Yorktown, Nick Santavicca rolled up 178 yards and three touchdowns on 17 carries in the first half as the Huskers stormed out to a 28-0 halftime lead. Santavicca added a fourth TD in the second half. Tim Forbes and James Fennessey also scored for Yorktown, the latter on an 8-yard pass from Ryan Baker.
Yorktown will play the winner of Saturday’s Class A semifinal between Rye and Somers in next week’s championship. The Class A final is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 8 at Mahopac High School.
