It’s a football Friday, which means before we get to the games, there’s always a good story to tell. This week’s is about Scarsdale senior James Nicholas, a rare three-sport athlete who is especially unique in that he’s very, very good at all of them.
Nicholas is one of the best hockey players and golfers in the section. He was The Journal News’ hockey player of the year last winter and was one of the Top 3 qualifiers for the Section 1 golf tournament. He won four times this year on the International Junior Golf Tour.
Well, he’s pretty good at football, too. After returning four kickoffs for TDs during an all-section turn as a junior, Nicholas has already scored six touchdowns and thrown for another. He had a hand in all four touchdowns in last week’s upset of North Rockland, and has proven his versatility all season. Case in point: Nicholas has already scored via kickoff, interception, rush and reception.
