OSSINING – It’s nearly impossible to ruin a rival’s season in Week 1.
And maybe that realization dampened some of the enthusiasm leading up to an early showdown between Sleepy Hollow and Ossining. The new schedule has altered the landscape. Players from both sides undoubtedly circled the date on the calendar, but there wasn’t a lot of drama heading into Friday’s contest.
“We’ll see, but there is no buildup,” Horsemen coach Steve Borys said beforehand. “We’re playing on like the fourth day of school, and that’s a little disappointing.”
There wasn’t much drama on the field, either.
Sleepy Hollow went right to work with a retooled offense, scoring five touchdowns in the first quarter in a resounding 55-27 win.
