Class AA regional semifinal: Mount Vernon vs. Newburgh
I am surprised this was not closer – I saw NFA as MV’s biggest threat at the State level.
Josh, you mention that some upstate teams can beat MV, but I am not sure who you are referring to. Green Tech will likely represent the Capitol District, and Greece Athena and Utica Proctor are probably going from the west. MV already beat GT easily, and although Athena and UP have good teams I have not seen anything from them to indicate they are better than NFA. Am I missing somebody?
Federations will be a dogfight, as Luhi, Hayes/CTK/Loughlin, and Lincoln are all very good.
scary… I don’t think the folks in Section 9 were very high on Newburgh this year. Fans maybe, but no impartial observer I spoke do thought this was a great Newburgh team.
Mount Vernon looked very good tonight, but I don’t think Newburgh played well at all defensively. I think Mount Vernon can win, but this is not one of the better MV teams and I think they are beatable. That’s all I was saying.
If Brentwood gets through they are a threat. They have two very good players who will reek havoc.
First time I would back a Long Island team in a long time
HR…..”They have two very good players who will reek havoc.”
Not to turn this into a lesson in grammar, but unless you meant they smell of havoc, the proper phrase would be “they will wreak havoc”
Sorry HR, this is all about pulling each other up when we stumble…just as I would appreciate the same when I butcher an expression.
MOUNT VERNON DID WORK,AS I SAT IN MY SEAT I FELT MORE AND MORE AT EASE AS THE GAME WENT ON…........”A JOB WELL DONE.
BUT WE AIN’T FINISHED YET
I agree they are beatable, but nobody in NY has been able to do it yet… certainly nobody I have seen from upstate is likely to beat MV, although Athena may have a shooter’s chance.
I haven’t seen Brentwood this year, but I have watched LI teams being thrashed at Glens Falls for many years.
