Here is more story on North Salem’s win over Hen Hud, along with the rest of today’s results.
The beauty of league play is it gives a team the chance to start fresh.
North Salem proved that Tuesday, beating visiting league opponent Hen Hud 53-43.
The Tigers (2-6) have had a rough start to the season thanks to injuries to three of their starters, limiting an already inexperienced group.
The victory against Hen Hud (7-4), one of the favorites to win League 1-D, could prove to be a turning point for North Salem, which moved to 1-1 in the league.
“Hopefully this win gives us some confidence,” North Salem coach Henry Sassone said. “It helps us play the way we’ve become accustomed to in the past.”
Only three Tigers registered points, something Sassone said he has never seen in his 29 years of coaching.
Michael Less and Thomas Bond each had 21 points in the win. Terry Beyer added 11 points and 13 rebounds, and, according to Sassone, was the key to the victory.
“It’s going to take us time,” Sassone said. “But beating a team that was 7-3 and tied for first in the league, hopefully that will springboard us.”
