The rain and wind have made for an ugly day, but it appears as if they will play football tonight — hopefully under some decent conditions.
I’m heading to Ossining-Somers tonight and will have updates from that game and more @lohudinsider. Rick Carpiniello (@lohudcarp) will have the details on the other Class A semifinal between Rye and Tappan Zee. Mike Dougherty (@hoopsmbd) will also be out. He’s heading to Hackley-Suffern as Hackley tries to finish just the fourth unbeaten season in program history. QB Joe McDermott, a Super 11 pick this preseason, is expected to start after returning briefly last week against Putnam Valley.
Make sure to send through some scores and your thoughts on tonight’s games. I’ll be back tonight with recaps and more. Enjoy!

Game recaps –
Class A semifinals
No. 4B Somers 52, No. 2B Ossining 14: At Ossining, junior Tim Fazzinga rushed 17 times for 204 yards and five touchdowns and Somers intercepted five passes. The Tuskers reached their second straight Class A final and will defending their sectional championship at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9 at Mahopac High School.
Junior Tyler DeVito had three of the interceptions, including a 90-yard return for a touchdown. Senior Matt Arita had the other two. Fazzinga’s longest run of the day was a 59-yarder for his final touchdown. Senior quarterback Tim Cousin added 70 yards on the ground.
Ossining senior Justin Davidov went 13 for 22 for 183 yards and the five interceptions. He rushed for 105 yards and a TD. Christian Morales rushed for 41 yards and a score.
No. 1B Rye 28, No. 2A Tappan Zee 7: At Rye, Andrew Livingston threw three touchdowns, including two to Tim DeGraw and one to Chase Pratt. Livingston connected with DeGraw on a 76-yard score on the second play of the second half to give the unbeaten Garnets their three-touchdown lead.
Alex Raynor had an interception and a fumble recovery for Rye. Paul Staudinger also had an interception on a fourth-down pass on a goal-to-go situation from the 7. It led to a skirmish between the teams and an ejection, which will lead to an automatic suspension for next’s week’s championship game.
Rye will have a rematch with Somers, which it beat the second week of the season. It will be the Garnets’ first appearance in a Section 1 final since 2008, when it won the last of six straight Class B championships. This is the program’s first appearance in a Class A sectional final. (Rye moved to Class A in 2009.)
