Former Peekskill stars and NFL alumni Billy Thomas and Tre Johnson III will have their jerseys retired Saturday during the team’s football game against Panas.
Thomas, a member of the Class of 1968, was drafted 26th overall out of Boston College in 1972. He played a season each for the Dallas Cowboys, Houston Oilers and Kansas City Chiefs, but saw his career hampered by a shoulder injury.
Johnson (pictured above in 2002), a member of the Class of 1989, played eight of his nine seasons in the NFL as an offensive lineman for the Washington Redskins. He started 72 games, highlighted by his 1999 selection to the Pro Bowl. Johnson was drafted out of Temple in 1994 with the 31st pick in the second round. He also played a season with the Cleveland Browns.
Peekskill will host an alumni breakfast on Saturday at 9 a.m. The football team will host Panas at 1:30 and Thomas and Johnson will be honored then. The jerseys will be unveiled in the Peekskill gym following the game.
