Khalil Edney’s dramatic, epic, iconic buzzer beater earned him national attention and an invite to Wednesday night’s ESPYs in Los Angeles.
“The Shot” was in the final four for “Best Play,” along with Ray Allen’s clutch 3-pointer for the Heat in Game 6 of the NBA Finals; DeAndre Jordan’s alley-oop dunk for the Clippers; and Jadeveon Clowney’s devastating hit against Michigan in the Outback Bowl.
Clowney was named the winner of the award, which was picked by the fans. If you haven’t heard, SEC football fans are kind of in. I would imagine that helped.
Even if he was robbed of the hardware, Edney’s night wasn’t half bad. The 18-year old from New Rochelle had pictures snapped on the red carpet with LeBron James, DeWayne Wade and Vince Young (who Edney called his idol), among many, many others.
Win or lose, what an experience.
