Would you believe it? Another season is here.
OK, OK. There are no games scheduled for this weekend, no in-season practices to grind through. Still, the local football preseason begins on Saturday for all intents and purposes with events at Arlington and White Plains High Schools.
Arlington will host its third annual AHS Football Passing Scrimmage Saturday beginning at 9 a.m. Arlington, Dover, FDR-Hyde Park, Lourdes, Millbrook and Somers will attend with perhaps a couple other late additions.
White Plains will host the fifth annual Big Apple Shoot Out on Saturday as well. The event is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. and will host 21 teams, including several of the area’s top programs. That includes all but one previous winner (Section 2’s LaSalle, 2010). 2009 champ Croton, 2011 co-champs White Plains and Stepinac and 2012 winner Iona Prep are all expected in the field.
The 7 on 7s and camps — as well as the 2013 Lineman Challenge at Carmel — continue in the coming weeks. Send me information on your summer events at firstname.lastname@example.org.
