What a rollercoaster. After trailing by five at the break, MLK opened the second half on a surge, going up by 14 at one point. The Tigers squandered that entire lead in the fourth quarter, but good defense and three late free throws allowed the Section 1 champ to survive against upstart University Prep of Rochester, a team with no juniors or seniors on the roster.
MLK advanced to the third state final in program history. The Tigers will return to the court at the Glens Falls Civic Center at 5:30 Saturday for the state championship.
I will have LIVE updates from both games tomorrow at the Civic Center, including a LIVE chat on the Class AA state semifinal between New Rochelle and Northport.
Check back later for a game story on MLK’s narrow victory.
