The CHSAA will tip-off its annual Archdiocesan tournament on Sunday and will crown its champion a week from Saturday. The seeds are almost set. The last remaining game of consequence is today’s league finale between Iona Prep and Fordham. (Update: Iona won and secured the No. 4 seed.)
St. Peter’s and Moore Catholic — the two AA schools in the Staten Island division — will be seeded seventh and eighth. Their seeds are determined on eight league games (two head to head and one against each of the New York division). Their winning percentages are compared to the winning percentages of the New York teams. For example, St. Peter’s at 2-6 has a .250 winning percentage. Mount’s 5-13 record is good for a winning percentage of .277, giving Mount the higher seed.
Anyway, here’s a look at how the teams will be seeded, based on their league records:
CHSAA “AA” Archdiocesan seeds
1. Cardinal Hayes (14-3)
2. Stepinac (12-6)
3. St. Raymond (10-8)
4. Iona Prep (8-10)
5. Fordham Prep (6-12)
6. Mount St. Michael (5-13)
7. St. Peter’s (2-6)
8. Moore Catholic (1-7)
The league will host its quarterfinals in a quadrupleheader on Sunday at St. Ray’s in the Bronx. The winners advance to the semifinals on Tuesday at Mount St. Michael. The Mount will also host the championship the following Saturday.

Anyone know the seedlings of the Long Island, Queens, Brooklyn schools? Do the winners of each tournament go on to play each other?
I don’t have the seeds for those tournaments, but the Brooklyn/Queens and New York teams go into the same intersectional tournament. Teams are not eliminated by losing in the BQ and NY tournaments. Those are separate events. The results of each are used to determine the seeds for the intersectional tourney. So if Hayes wins, it will be No. 1 out of NY. The runner-up is No. 2 and so on. Same for BQ.
Crusade,
I believe the B/Q seedings are
1-CTK
2-Loughlin
3-Molloy (despite sweeping Loughlin)
4-Holy Cross
5-Xaverian
6-SFP
The Long Island teams aren’t part of the CHSAA basketball league. They play for their own title.
Hoops molloy can get 2 seed if they beat ctk tonight
Any info on the JV & Freshmen tournaments? The Intersectionals for both tournaments in AA & A start this weekend.
