Well, that was fun.
Seriously, I hope you and yours were safe and warm during the storm, which was bad here but we’re all lucky we didn’t live an hour or so east. It seems the New Haven area had towns that were hit with 35 or 40 inches of snow.
Unable to teleport myself to Vermont, I bring you a few schedule updates. First of all, despite it being Sunday, today’s slate is pretty decent. Our No. 2 team Stepinac hosts one of Section 9’s best, Burke Catholic, while another of Section 1’s best small schools, Briarcliff, visits one of Section 9’s best small schools, O’Neill.
The Dapper McDonald tournament will also conclude tonight at Harrison when Woodlands meets Fox Lane in a rematch of last year’s championship game.
I should also mention that Saturday’s complete wipeout of games did not come without a positive. Byram Hills and Harborfields were able to reschedule their game from Saturday — a game they had believed would not be played. Now, Harborfields will visit Byram on Monday at 4:15 in a rematch of the 2011 Class A state semifinals. As you may know, Harborfields reached the state final that year and won it all last year, beating Tappan Zee in the championship game.
Anyway, here’s the schedule for Sunday:
Irvington at Sleepy Hollow, 1:30 p.m.
Tappan Zee at Somers, 2 p.m.
Briarcliff vs. O‘Neill at West Point, 2:30 p.m.
Riverside at Saunders, 3 p.m.
Burke Catholic at Stepinac, 4 p.m.
Dapper McDonald tournament at Harrison
Consolation: Harrison vs. Port Chester, 5 p.m.
Championship: Woodlands vs. Fox Lane, 7 p.m.
