Sunday’s recap: Riverside trips Saunders in OT; more games…

As I said this morning, this Sunday was a true bonus. There were a few excellent games today, including Riverside and Saunders being engaged in a dramatic rematch. Tappan Zee continued its strong recent play by locking down Somers. And Stepinac repaid Burke, which beat the Crusaders last year in its gym.

Briarcliff also beat O’Neill today at West Point. I’ll have that and more later tonight…

Riverside 70, Saunders 65, OT: At Riverside, Eddie Jackson led Riverside with 31 points, five steals and five rebounds. Khalif Mason scored 15 of his 17 points in the second half and had six assists. Erickson Gonzalez and Rahbir Hamman scored 16 points apiece for Saunders. Hamman had 10 rebounds.

Tappan Zee 47, Somers 44: At Somers, Eric Casey had 13 points and Luke McLaughlin scored 12 points in the win. John Decker led Somers with 14 points and Matt Moros had 11.

Stepinac 60, Burke Catholic 55: At Stepinac, Andrew Murray scored 15 points and had seven rebounds. Naim Thomas added 12 points and shot 8 for 8 from the foul line. Josh James contributed 11 points and eight assists.

Briarcliff 47, O’Neill 46: At West Point, Briarcliff fouled an O’Neill 3-point shooter with two seconds remaining and a two-point lead. The Raiders player converted one of three free throws. Brian Daniels led the Bears with 14 points and Jared Jones had 12 points.

Sleepy Hollow 52, Irvington 51, OT: At Irvington, Nick Arduino led Sleepy Hollow with 18 points. Joey Good and Dionel Infante scored 11 points apiece. Kevin Tierney had 16 points for Irvington. Mike Macchia scored 15 points and Jon Goldreich added 13.

Harrison 63, Port Chester 39: In the consolation game of the Dapper McDonald Tournament at Harrison, Matt Stein scored 23 points. Nick Esposito had 13 points and Coby Lefkowitz added 11 points. Tim Brown led Port Chester with 11 points.

Fox Lane 50, Woodlands 47: In the championship game of the Dapper McDonald Tournament at Harrison, Nicky Bonura led the Foxes with 11 points. James Morales added nine points. Jamil Gambari scored 14 points for the Falcons and Brandon Johnson had 12 points.
