With weather wreaking havoc on both the Friday and Saturday schedule, I figure it’s time for a reboot. All Section 1 and CHSAA games were postponed today and most are off tomorrow as well.
A few highlights: Somers and Tappan Zee were originally scheduled to meet at Pace Saturday night. They will now play Sunday afternoon at Somers, which also had to postpone its senior night against North Salem to Monday. Also (and unfortunately), Byram Hills and Harborfield has been outright canceled. The teams were supposed to meet on Saturday at the College of New Rochelle. That means Byram will not play its allotted 18 games. Lastly, Briarcliff’s game against O’Neill at West Point has been shifted to Sunday.
On another note, it’s just a coincidence, and the result of poor logistics, but it’s a shame that three of the section’s Top 5 or so teams (Mount Vernon, Poughkeepsie and Byram) will not play 18 games.
Anyway, here’s a look at the upcoming schedule. Please let me know if you know of additions or changes that should be made.

According to bracketology woodlands is 10-6. Are they only going to play 17 games???
That makes a dfference on woodlands opponents
.. anyone know >?
BRACKETS ARE COMMING OUT MONDAY NIGHT A FEW TEAMS HAVE PLAYED JUST 17 GAMES
If teams only play 17 games, do they get a loss for the 18th game?
Josh,
How will Byram Hills not playing on saturday effect class A top four seedings!!!!
A shame BHHS and Harborfields couldn’t work it out to play on Sunday. I’m not sure what happended, nor why. I feel bad for the players… and Parents. win, lose or draw I was looking forward to it. plus it would have served as a nice tune up going into the playoffs.
its crazy that teams are not playing a full 18 game schedule. Coaches, ad s and parents were screaming years ago when state reduced schedule from 20 to 18. Shame on those schools who did not schedule a full 18 games. I can understand weather issues, but to not schedule 18 games is inexcusable.
Best of luck to all teams in upcoming playoffs. I am predicting mt vernon in aa, pough. in a, Lourdes in b,
In section 9, Kingston in aa, burke in a, and spackenkill in b.
The fact that teams dont play 20 games is really a travesty. I understand the economy but it takes away from the HS Hoops experience. Harder to get 1000 pts, 2 less games to distinguish or differentiate teams and disincentivizes teams to play good schedules.
Section 1 should really take a look it this..
CHSAA and private schools play 25 games.. our teams are a disadvantage and there is really no reason for it
jetsstink, the problem is that there are so many teams that are in Section1 and the playoffs start way too early as compared to Sect9. Therefore their is limited flexibility. Don’t worry u will find out when all the Sect1 Rockland teams come over. Wow pick yourself for Sect9B? Like the confidence. Go Spackenkill
cant pick against us…...feeley teams always peak at the end of the season
our Section 1 teams should have a 20-game schedule, but like football, the regular season has been compromised for state playoffs…I can remember my last regular season game in high school, played on February 28…sometimes, weather events are going to affect games…maybe a 20-game schedule can be optional, not mandatory for all schools…this way the better programs could schedule tough games outside league, section, accept tourney invites out=of=state, etc.
Isiah Cousins from MV on Oklahoma just started on ESPN vs Kansas
Haywood, Rotten, Statesman et al, go on over to the wrestling blog and see what our old friend Jen Simmons is up to now.

CHIEF,
YOU CAN’T MAKE IT UP,WHAT A JOKE!
Chief,
Heard about it yesterday. Still flabbergasted.
Oldheadhoops- woodlands is only playing 17 games. Confirmed it
section one does offer something that you will not find anywhere else in the country. MODIFIED Sports for grades 9-12.
You have your own section Hayweird?
Eddie “Iona” Davender. You need a life.
Time and place hampers scheduling, don’t count our Dutchess County this year, the orphans of Section I have some fine teams in Arlington, Lourdes, Poughkeepsie and watch for a sleeper in Beacon.
The conference was tougher than most in Westchester and as tough as Rockland County
Granted Arlington beat Pac the 1st game of the season. Pac led that game by double didgets for 3 1/2 qtrs..but they won ..but who else did they play?..the only hard games they had left (pok) they lost !..pok is legit..not sure about the others
