ST RAYS HAS BEEN PLAYING WELL,DON’T BE SURPRISED THIS GAME COULD GO DOWN TO THE WIRE
Haywood,
You’re absolutely right. St Rays just lost to Hayes 91-89 on a last minute running three-pointer in OT on Friday night by Chris Robinson. The amazing thing about St Rays is I don’t think they play one senior – they’re all sophs and jrs. St Rays 6’9” 250 soph Santos is already getting big-time recruiting attention. He’ll be a tough matchup for Stepinac. St Rays has 4 very good guards – Kayvon Williams, Troy Ferguson, Shawn Jones (all juniors) and Jaquan McKennon a soph. It will be another great matchup of guards against Josh James, Naim Thomas, Walter King and Demarcus Miller for Stepinac.
Step by 5 today!
Step needs a big game from Murry down low.St Rays is talented at guard but they lack shooting from beyond 10-12feet..very tough down low with Santos.. they sub in couple of big guys down low but when they do they get slower. Step needs to contol pace.. they are not Hayes so dont expect them to win fast tempo game..they must run good deep sets and try to get Santos off the floor..Murry has to stay out of foul trouble..Stepinac 66 St Rays 62….also 49ers 31- Raven24..both Ravens lose..sorry Ray Rice…

BIG,BIG WIN FOR STEPINAC,NICE JOB,HOPEFULLY THAT KILLER MENTALITY WILL CONTINUE,AND STEPINAC WAS SHORT HANDED,”JOSH JAMES EQUALS MONSTER GAME
Great job Step!
Does anyone know the injury status of Jack Daly for tomorrow’s game at Scarsdale?
Step beat mount 62-52 on saturday
Anyone know Stepinac’s schedule for the next week?
Great game for Stepinac. Josh James played the best game I’ve seen him – hit threes, handled the ball with precision ( I can’t remember one TO), took the ball to the basket, finished in traffic against a 6’9” kids, hit mid-range jumpers. He just did everything.
But it wasn’t just Josh. James Decker had a huge game hitting 3’s, making great plays and playing great D. Malik Omess played a great game hitting shots and making smart plays. Naim Thomas played another excellent game. Andrew Murray finished very well around the basketball and played great D. Demarcus Miller had another good game.
Larry Bird,
Stepinac plays at Christ the King on Tues. That will be a tough one on the road obviously. The CHSAA AA offers no rest for the weary – Stepinac played St Rays last Friday on the road, Loughlin at home, St Rays again today at home and CK on Tues, combined with a couple potential trap games against tough teams like Fordham and Mount in between.
Haywood,
Definitely a great effort and great win. The monster game by Josh didn’t surprise, but beating St Rays by 15pts without Walter King would have been a tall order if you asked me before the game. Walter has been excellent this year. He scored 23 against St Rays last week and 20 against Loughlin.
Scarsdale-Eastchester… Daly is a game-time decision, per his coach.
Bird… Christ the King, Scanlan, Burke Catholic and Moore Catholic. http://stepinacbasketball.stackvarsity.com/schedules/
Josh,
You asked for a POTW suggestion. I feel silly for even mentioning it, but I think this week Josh James should be unanimous. I thought Walter King made a pretty strong case for it last week as well – 23pts against St Rays and 20 points against Loughlin and their two big time guards.
