EDITED, 5:13 p.m.: The post has been edited to reflect the Albertus-TZ game being moved from Tuesday to Saturday.

* * *

Dan picked up more ground on me last week thanks to his Mahopac pick. Suffice it to say, I called that one wrong.

Chances are we will both find ourselves imperfect again. This week is chock full of difficult choices. It pains me to say, but an 0-5 record might be easier for us to accomplish than 5-0. All five of this week’s Games of the Week could come down to the final minutes.

2012-13 Records —
Josh: 19-13
Dan: 22-10

Rye at Harrison, 6:15 p.m. —
Josh: Rye, 66-58. If the Garnets plan on making a push toward challenging in Class A, this is the week. They have Harrison and Byram Hills twice and a 2-1 week would really make a statement. It starts here. They won’t overlook the Huskies with one of the section’s best teams on the horizon. As you might have heard, Rye-Harrison is a rivalry. (Ya think?)
Dan: Rye, 55-44. The Garnets won big in their last meeting big (60-47) as Max Twyman had a strong game (24 points). I see more of the same from Rye, as they start to build on a nice run before heading into sections.

Peekskill at Panas, 4:30 p.m. —

Josh: Peekskill, 72-70. Maybe I’ve been duped by Peekskill, but I’m going to stick by the Red Devils. Their results have been tough to figure so far. Great wins and questionable losses galore. They now have back to back games against emerging teams in Kennedy (Tuesday) and Panas. I have them winning both. If not, this Peekskill team isn’t what we thought it was.
Dan: Panas, 70-68. As if Peekskill wasn’t motivated enough for this game, the Red Devils got hammered 83-57 at Mahopac on Saturday. For the Panthers, their last meeting really served as a springboard as Panas has won five straight since beating Peekskill for the first time in 19 years. Vaughn Dweck leads Panas to another big win for the Panthers in a tight one.

Pleasantville at Putnam Valley, 6 p.m. —
Josh: Pleasantville, 55-50. If Pleasantville ever turns a corner, Friday’s loss to Byram and this game will be where it happened. The Panthers have made some gains lately, even in defeat. They came in a last-second loss to Briarcliff and Friday’s hot shooting performance at Byram. If they can sustain that level of play at Put Valley, they can win.
Dan: Putnam Valley, 57-50. Putnam Valley is coming off a tough loss to Pawling, ending a winning streak that had dated back to Dec. 13. Pleasantville has had a tough run of late, but it’s come against some strong teams (Briarcliff, Byram Hills). Pleasantville is due for a win, but I think the Pawling loss will serve as a wake up call for Putnam Valley.

Friday —
Clarkstown North at Clarkstown South, 4:45 p.m. —

Josh: Clarkstown South, 55-50. In a tough week of picks, this might be the toughest. North has been very inconsistent, but it beat South solidly in the first meeting. North won’t have the home crowd on its side this time or the momentum. South has definitely played better basketball since.
Dan: Clarkstown South, 60-53. North has struggled since its win over South back on Jan. 9. The Rams have dropped four straight since what looked to be a season-changing win for them against a local rival. Meanwhile, South has had an up and down season after their hot start. When it comes to this rivalry you have to just throw both teams’ records out. Much like there first meeting, I think the home crowd plays a factor.

Albertus Magnus at Tappan Zee, 3 p.m. —
Josh: Albertus, 60-55. The Falcons have won eight straight, but this is a tricky game. They’ll be helped by a factor you can’t ignore: The game is at 3 on Saturday (edit: still applies) as opposed to 7 on a Friday night. That should rob TZ of some of its home court advantage, which could have unnerved a young Albertus team. Also, I think TZ is a better team with a healthy Eric Casey and it’s impossible to tell what condition he’ll be in tomorrow.
Dan: Albertus Magnus, 60-50. Few teams have been as impressive as Albertus Magnus. Jack Sullivan has really proved he is one of the elite scorers in the section. While Tappan Zee has somewhat shed their inconsistent play from earlier this season, I still think Albertus is too strong and will roll to another win.
