Big implications for our #GOTW picks today. Four games scheduled for today are part of this weeks “Game of the Week” picks.
Josh and I will be on opposite sides of the river today. I’ll be up north at the Westchester Putnam Coaches vs. Cancer at Mahopac. Meanwhile Josh will be at Clarkstown South for the LHBCA Coaches vs. Cancer Week Tip-Off Classic.
We incorrectly listed the times for North Rockland-New Rochelle and South-Scarsdale. The games were reshuffled at Mahopac. All times are correct below.

51-34 Pac …crushing them on the boards
Hey Moose..trip down memory lane .my favorite Newburgh players ..Kevin Butch Moore Mike Arline..Damon Jones. Tree Williams ! ..the Newburgh Pok games were classics back in the day. I missed those days ! Even tho i disliked the Burgh..They always had some great ballers !
Pac up 25 end of third
My second favorite team this year is the Pac.
Ben Gordon that day in pok was unreal….36 points… Former Coach Murphy who was watching the game with me that day said…..Hes a pro….boy was he right.
Much needs to be added about the coaches thru the years, Murphy, sheehan, Laffin, and all their assistants…Barger as well in fb….And solid a.ds in Sheehan and Cameron. Glad Cameron came back.
Rocket,
Agreed! I’ve never seen anyone treat players like he does. I’ve seen them totally overmatched against us and he is screaming and yelling at kids like they weren’t playing hard. Not my fave.

jetsstink, who do u think is the better coach? Murphy or Laffin? I think both are good. But I have to say as far as program goes Murphy did win a state and final4 but it was at the B level. I have to say as far as overall program I think Laffin has brought the program to a different level of student-athlete. 4 D1 players and numerous college athletes. That did not happen before. Numerous league titles between them. Laffin 10 DCBCA Tourney titles will never be touched and they haven’t played in it the last two years. Thoughts?
Laffin has been tremendously successful, but Murphy is in a different league. Also, Pete Sheehan was a valuable x and o assistant for Murphy. Laffin does a great job, and I hope he gets a gold ball soon. Most of the schools at b level when murphy coached are now a since the numbers changed so thats a mute point. Tough question, but I go with Murphy I guess.
What do you think,,,also, states do you remember the teams of coach murphy?
Well I think if u go by kids being successful in school and in college u it is Laffin hands down. X’s and O’s I would say close maybe Murphy but not that far apart. Considering that the majority of Laffin’s coaching has been to go through AA and Mt. Vernon. Murphy only once. Both coached or coached at Pok for 13 years. So looking at it I will take Laffin. Can’t measure against a state title but think of how many Laffin might have if they put them in A where they should have been. lol I think Murphy is the legend but he did not have to take over for the legend. That right there is a big thing. Either way two of the best coaches in Pok history!
dcballer
I agree…...great response
HRs,
You were correct my friend. You said Luhi’s backcourt court handle the pressure in the backcourt. I wasn’t sure. you were right.
Hoops whats crazy is they lost KJ Lee to prep. They would have been even better! They honestly have played a great schedule to prepare. They will be in the Feds. Going to be a great year this year.
DC/Jets,
You guys strike up excellent points. Coach Laffin has to get credit for his years up at the highest level. I think if Pok was down in A this last decade, they could conceivably have at least 4 gold balls.
Coach Murph has the B State Chip. Since there was no AA then, it’s equivalent to an A now. If Coach Laffin can get it done this season, he’d get 1A to Coach Murph’s 1B by a hair.
Coach Laffin has improved every year. Coach Murph seemed to do a great job of having his teams up for most games, even if they were clearly out manned by the other squad.
