MV better get an 8 man rotation and stick with it. Having players pulled in and out and random substitutions have hurt them this year. They are good but they need to get players use to playing with each other. Their substitutions are all over the place.

8 man rotation in not their style. They apply pressure all game long and there are kids chomping at the bit to get just 4 or 5 minutes to play defense.

Its still pretty early to say this but even in a supposed “down year” for MV I think they’re still gonna coast to a AA title relatively easy.

Thank you sir. I just saw that. Its next week (25th and 26th). Have you seen St. Ants play yet? I watched them a few weeks ago on MSG. They always look good, but he has got some team this year. They are long, athletic and tenascious on D. Will be interesting to see how the 3 NY teams compete.

Wood I would be very surprised if St. Ants doesn’t beat Boys by 10+ points. That Lutheran game is a big one. Many don’t feel LuHi is a big time contender for the fed championship. This game will be a nice indicator.

B&G is very weak this year. I saw them twice and was not impressed. Wesley Myers is their main player and hes good, but hes doesnt have enough left. Theyre in 5th place in their division with convincing losses to Lincoln, Jefferson and South Shore. St. Anthonys is going to embarrass them by 40! St. Anthonys versus Lone Peak will be a way better game. Lone Peak lost to Montverde (Kevin Boyle’s/St.Pats team, but they are LEGIT and on a mission to put Utah on the map. They destroyed Chester who destroyed Lincoln. St. A’s might lose that one, although I hope they win.
LuHi/Hayes will def be a more competitive game at SNY. LuHi has some nice wins and so does hayes. Itd be a cool to see where LuHi stands amongst the CHSAA AA’s. Has any other section 1 team besides Mount Vernon ever participated in it?

Rocket, MV is the only section 1 to play in that. I think there have only been 4 tourneys. MV played in two I think, but space/wood, etc. can confirm.
If St. Ants loses to anyone this year, I would be very surprised. They looked that good. Good info on Boys. Apparently I was to nice in my prediction!

Jalen had a solid game which is a good sign, Jamal Lewis was great. Coach did not start either of these two for some reason and whatever it was, it lit a fire under their bitts. Brandon Martin was banged heads with someone trying to draw an offensive foul. He was taken out of the game and sat for a bit with ice on his eye to keep the swelling down. When he returned and the swelling returned there was a point when he looked at Cimmino with one eye half closed to see what kind of defense they were in. It was right out of the movie Rocky. Fan behind me yelled out Adriannnnnnnn. Priceless. This kid is a junior and will be a beast next year.

Yup, pretty good with your B&G prediction! I thought theyd be good when they smacked Brooklyn Collegiate, but that win doesnt look so great anymore. The school is also going to be phased out into Boys & Girls Campus (50% grad rate), so that might have a small impact on the basketball program, but not by much though. Im not shocked MV was the only section 1 team in that tourney. I just wish we had more parity in Sect.1 AA. Regardless MV does their thing, but itd make for more entertaining basketball.
As for St. A’s, I love them because they take so much pride in defense. They’re not fancy or do anything spectacular offensively. But theyre just a well oiled machine, with an excellent coach who teaches them to play tenacious defense and intelligent basketball. I love Josh Brown..mostly because he signed to play at my alma-mater Temple!lol We get a lot of good Jersey athletes down at TU. ..not to go far off topic, we picked up the two reigning Jersey football players of the year..khalif herbin from montclair, and pj walker from elizabeth. Both excellent athletes. But back to more important things..Josh Brown is the engine that make St. A’s go this year. Future Temple Owl, lets go!lol
