I’ll be at Somers to see them take on Brewster. Follow me on Josh’s twitter (@LoHudInsider) for updates.
I’m 2 for 2 right now in terms of crowd atmosphere this week. Both Pearl River and Clarkstown North really brought the noise. I’m a firm believer in home field/court advantage in high school athletics. That being said, I don’t think there is any sport where it plays more of a factor than basketball.
Today’s schedule:
Lakeland at Hen Hud, 4:15 p.m.
Martin Luther King vs. Biondi School, 4:15 p.m.
Rye Neck at Westlake, 4:30 p.m.
Solomon Schechter at Yonkers Montessori, 4:30 p.m.
Salesian at Sacred Heart, 4:30 p.m.
Brewster at Somers, 6 p.m.
Mahopac at John Jay, 6 p.m.
Eastchester at Woodlands, 6 p.m.
Haldane at Putnam Valley, 6 p.m.
Kennedy at Yorktown, 6 p.m.
North Salem Booster Club tournament
Blind Brook vs. Hamilton, 5 p.m.

JJEF at PK in the North Country.
Dan,
Can we get a full schedule for the TORNAMENT at new ROC in new rochelle ON SATURDAY
Is Josh ok? He seems to be out this week which is odd during the middle of the season. Hope all is well with him.
Haywood,
I’ll absolutely post it Saturday, but because you’re a good dude, I’ll post it now as well:
JDRF Hoops for a Cure, at NewRoc City —
Saturday, Jan. 12
Saunders vs. Eastchester (Girls), Noon
Saunders vs. Eastchester, 2 p.m.
New Rochelle vs. Middletown, 4 p.m.
Poughkeepsie vs. White Plains, 6 p.m.
I feature the JDRF Hoops for a Cure showcase in tomorrow’s basketball notebook so keep an eye out for it. We’ll also have a reporter at the showcase Saturday doing a feature on how the showcase is doing in its second year and about how it raises money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
THANKS DAN
Whte Plains game at 4;00 on Saturday
White Plains game on Saturday is at 4pm not 6pm
HOOPS 52,
IS NEW ROCHELLE PLAYING AT 6PM?
rye neck will be shooting for 3 in a row today at Westlake. After beating Valhalla on Monday to start the week – a win today would be a nice way to end it.
Whoops. Nice catch Hoops 52. Guess they swapped the games since we got the schedule.
Here is the revised schedule:
12:00pm – Saunders/Eastchester (girls)
2:00pm – Saunders/Eastchester
4:00pm – White Plains/Poughkeepsie
6:00pm – New Rochelle/Middletown
For more info on the entire event check out this press release on Monroe’s website:

Something to look forward to
Saturday the 26th 8pm ..Mahopac vs Peekskill ..gonna be a war ….Mahopac HS will be insane..
Pok 41 JJEF 14 at half. Heard PK could have 53 if not for rim outs. Guess losing Matt Hayes was huge for JJEF.
PK 65 JJEF 19 after 3. Starters pulled halfway through 3.
84-27 PK/JJEF Final.
84 27 yikes
Yeah Hayes would have kept it under 40. lol
Pk has only given up 63 in last 2 games and only 37 in last 6 q’s against aa schools
Dutchess County Results:
Boys basketball-
Poughkeepsie 81, John Jay 27
Spackenkill 72, Dover 33
Lourdes 56, Ketcham 41
Arlington 68, Beacon 52
Putnam Valley 61, Haldane 30
beacon appears to be struggling. Lourdes 8 man team hanging in there…for now….I do think they will wear down. Marlboro Red Hook tomorrow will be very interesting.
Jets,
The Beacon pg has talent but needs to play under control and be more of a facilitator and not a chucker.
I agree about Lourdes, the gauntlet is coming for them. Wish them the best but the mileage on their legs must be crazy already.
Since I saw Malboro beat Pine Plains in Newburgh this game has intrigued me.
I only saw the first quarter of PK vs. John Jay-EF; looks like I didn’t miss too much. I still wonder how John Jay let Coach Hayes get away. Would definitely love to see Poughkeepsie and Red Hook face each other in the Class A state playoffs…
Looks like Spackenkill will be one tough customer in Section 9. Would love to see it return to Section 1 and start a rivalry with Lourdes. (Oops – forgot that Lourdes is supposed to be moving to Section 9 next year.)
Jeff,
I think Red Hook moved down to B?
red hook can not stay on the floor with PK. Marlboro should also beat them by 10. years past, yes RH-PK would have been a good matchup.
Statesman, the NYSPHSAA classification page has Red Hook’s enrollment at 533, placing it above the Class A cutoff (525). It does seem that Burke, Cornwall, Marlboro or Saugerties(!) would have a better shot at the Section 9 Class A title, though…
Jeff,
Whowee, right at that cut off point. We know how that feels being a tweener AA for so long.
9A should be a fun race to watch, glad to see so many quality schools in the area.
