Couple notes:
-Mount Vernon plays their first Section 1 opponent this season as they open up league play against Mamaroneck.
-The only three undefeated teams left in the area are in action. Palisade Prep will host Children Village. North Rockland heads to Suffern and Briarcliff travels to Nyack.
Speaking of Rockland, I’ll be over there to check out Clarkstown South take on Clarkstown North in one of our #GOTW. Talk about two teams on completely different trajectories. South is coming off back-to-back losses while North has been rolling of late. This is a rivalry game though, so you can pretty much throw everything you think you know about these teams out the window.

Haywood, your prediction is very modest. I would not want to be the team that the Knights begin their quest against for another “Gold Ball.” Coach Carver’s team plays a tough zone but if you don’t have the opportunity to set it up, the points are going to add up. Knights over the century mark not withstanding a valiant effort by a scrappy Mamaroneck squad. Mt. Vernon 108 Mamo 63.
That’s why zone teams should try a 3/4 court trap after made baskets. If the trap folds, you can easily fold back into a zone if your players can move to their areas and/or are comfortable at multiple spots.
After a non made basket, I guess sprinting back down the court suffices, lol.

Mt. Vernon will struggle early and figure it out late for a 20 -25 point win nothing more than that. 65-40. White Plains better show something against a pretty good Scarsdale team or they might find themselves at the bottom of the league with 4 or 5 wins. Peekskill will also rebound against Pelham and their 2-3 zone.
Honestly I was more excited to see my. Vernon play out of league. They shouldn’t be playing section 1 opponents. It’s a joke.

Briarcliff is still undefeated. They were 5-0 as of Josh’s last power rankings and they have beaten Westlake and Croton-Harmon since.
