In the meantime, how about this: Putnam Valley beat Lakeland tonight. According to Ray Gallagher of the Examiner, this was the first time in program history. (Remember: Putnam Valley’s varsity programs only date back about a decade.)
A very good night for an improving program. Here are the final scores and top performers from that and the rest of tonight’s games:
Putnam Valley 60, Lakeland 46: At Lakeland, Jelanie Bell-Issac had 21 points. Zach Coleman added 11. Anthony Mendoza had 11 points for the Hornets.
Sacred Heart 44, John Jay 24: At Sacred Heart, Arjon Bequiri scored 15 points and Balla Phiam had 11 points, 10 rebounds and five blocks. Matt Bernstein scored seven points for the Indians.
Haldane 64, Yonkers Montessori 29: At Yonkers Montessori, Peter Hoffmann had 16 points. Chris McGovern and Stephen Valys each added 11 points.
Ketcham 64, North Salem 57: At Ketcham, Joey Flanagan had 19 points, five rebounds and eight assists for Ketcham. Umar Singh scored 21 points. Tomas Salaveria added 11 points.
Clarkstown North 74, Monroe Woodbury 43: At Clarkstown North, senior point guard Zac Jarrett hit seven three-pointers en route to a 24-point game for the Rams. He also had six assists. Sal Barbetto added 21 points and had seven assists.
Blind Brook 49, Port Chester 40: At Port Chester, Sam Adler scored 15 points, including three 3-pointers. Tim Brown led all scorers with 18 points for the Rams. The Trojans held the Rams to just three points in the second quarter.
Edgemont 62, Hastings 48: At Hastings, Paul Emdin scored 16 points. Brendan Freedman added 12 points. Joe Tino made four 3-pointers for 12 points. Qu’ran Robinson added 10 points.
South Kent 63, Harvey 44: At Harvey, Jesse Zubren scored 15 points and pulled down 13 rebounds. Eamon Murphy added 13 points for the Cavaliers.
Beacon 50, Brewster 43: At Beacon, Brian McNeil had 13 points and nine rebounds for Brewster. Connor Mitts scored 10 points.
