Here’s Dan DeFrancesco’s recap of the game tonight, plus the rest of tonight’s roundups:

It didn’t take long for Eric Paschall to show why he is in contention for this year’s Mr. Basketball.

In his first game of the season the junior scored 30 points in Dobbs Ferry’s 69-55 win over Irvington in the first round of the Michael F. Tewey Memorial Tournament at Irvington.

“I thought we gelled well today,” Paschall said. “I think today we came together and showed we can be real good.”

Nick Kost added 15 while George Roca chipped in eight. Kevin Tierney led the Bulldogs with 14 points. The Eagles will face Ardsley in the championship Saturday at 8 p.m. Irvington will face Pelham at 4 p.m. in the consolation.

Paschall got started early, scoring 12 points in the first quarter. Irvington had a tough time matching up with the 6-foot-6 guard, sending him to the line five times in the first eight minutes.

While a majority of the offense ran through Paschall in the first quarter, the Eagles were able to work the ball around and get others involved as the game progressed.

Coach Scott Patrillo said that will be key to the Eagles success as the season progresses.

“You’ve got to become a balanced team because you can’t just become a one-man show,” Patrillo said. “Other guys, like we said all year, have to step up. They’ve got to learn how to make cuts to the right places get themselves open in positions because Eric will find them.”
