[1]Stepinac senior Josh James officially signed his National Letter of Intent with Monmouth today during a ceremony at the school. He was joined by baseball player Skylar Mercado, who inked a scholarship with Maine.

James, a 6-foot-1 point guard from Greenburgh, is the only senior-aged boys basketball player in the Lower Hudson Valley to sign today. Former Lincoln star Dustin Hogue also signed with Iowa State. He played last season at Indian Hills Community College.

Here’s what James had say after today’s ceremony:

On signing: “It feels great. It’s an amazing feeling. I finally did it. Now I can move on and get ready for the next stage – not only the next stage, but this season.”

On his time coming: “I see this every year on TV. Now that it’s my time, it’s just an overwhelming feeling. I’m so happy for myself. I’m proud of myself, too.”

On his senior season: “Now I’m more comfortable with myself. I can focus on the season and hopefully lead my team far in the playoffs and have a great season.
