The CHSFL playoffs have been postponed again. A combination of Hurricane Sandy and Wednesday’s nor’easter have crippled Long Island and Staten Island, preventing several teams from logging practice time.
As of now, all of the CHSFL AAA quarterfinals will be played next weekend. Stepinac will travel to St. Joe’s on Saturday, Nov. 17, and Iona Prep will host Xaverian on either Friday, Nov. 16 or Saturday. I will post the full schedule when it’s finalized.
Remarkably, the CHSFL season will now bleed into December. The AAA championship game has been rescheduled for Sunday, Dec. 2.
Stepinac now joins the likes of Somers and Sleepy Hollow in a serious scheduling crunch. In order to play its Turkey Bowl against White Plains, the Crusaders will play Nov. 17, Nov. 22 and, if they beat St. Joe’s, Tuesday, Nov. 27 in the semifinals. That game would likely be against top-seeded St. Anthony’s.
More in a bit…

Any chance of them calling off the whole thing? The kids have been on the sidelines for two weeks + and the LI schools are still without power. Unlike the professional teams high school clubs do not hit much in practice during the season. Those teams with a Thanksgiving game will really be pressed for time.
So Iona is on the other side ? how many cross over athletes do they have ? i know basketball is the big concern but Iona has a couple impressive wrestlers (although prob one of their weaker sports teams) wonder if they are football guys as well Sleepy will get their big guns (Bencosme, Cernaj, Jimenez) back just in time… wouldnt be surprised if Somers had a wrestler or two on the team but they have their hands full with Cornwall might not be playing much longer. Although all those INTs are a good sign heading into a matchup with White
