PRINCE PERFORMING AS PPR!!! October 31st, 2012 at 2:57 pm
HAVE ANYONE NOTICE!!!..
SINCE WE WENT BACK TO 3 GAMES IN 11 DAYS!!... #THE WORSE WEEK OF THE WINTER HAS SHOWED UP DURING THAT WEEK!!....#HMMMMMMMMM HELLO!... JEN I THINK SOMEONE (GOD) TRYING TO TELL YOU GUYS SOMETHING!!!!!.. CHANGE THE FORMAT!!!!
PPR,
You might be right about the man upstairs trying to give the Sect 1 committee a hint…He might be the only thing capable of helping them get it right.
scary,
I agree with everything you wrote about Edney/New Ro. I agree that No Rock has a decent chance against New Ro. I’m not sure about Shaker in Sect 2 yet – Sect 2 is weak as you said. They blew out Shen the defending champ in Sect 2 earlier this year (they have a rematch in Sect final this week). I agree MW seems to be stumbling big time late this year – as I said earlier they’ve lost 2 of their last 3 and squeaked by Warwick 14-13 – a team they blew out 37-6 earlier in the year. I’m actually not convinced MW gets by Pine Bush this week! Either way, I’d be very surprised if New Ro does not get by the Sect 9 winner.
As far as WP, I don’t know the circumstances of dropping both games and I’ve not said anything about it until I hear the full story. I know they had to drop one in order to play Step – that was obviously a good move. I’ll withhold judgment about not playing both games until I hear the reasoning for it.
Scary, I cant see New Ro taking MW easily. That has become a rivalry and I cant see either team laying down vs the other. My hope would be NewRo have an easy go with MW, but I cant see it. MW will come to play that game.
Hoopsfan
I do not know the WP circumstances either, but to say they are at rock bottom is fair. It is really too bad, I would like to see them excel. Needless to say, Step should have an easy time with them (if they play).
Just
Good points around the rivalry, but MW does not have the horses this year to hold up against NR regardless of how hard they play. I agree with hoopsfan in that they couls easily lose to Pine Push anyway.
scary,
As far as WP, this is clearly a down year. But looking at last year’s squad, there were two main problems 1) there was literally NO ONE in this year’s senior class that contributed as Jrs – that is highly unusual. I read in the pre-season that they returned a team this year with NOT ONE player who got a carry last year. I take from this that this year’s Sr class was exceptionally thin. 2) The other main factor this year was they were stuck with a very good schedule – I think #3 or #4 in AA. Based on what they had coming back, they should’ve got a schedule closer to #10 or lower.
WP has two things going for them next year, 1) tHis year’s team had a bunch of juniors starting at the skill positions and playing big roles. Next year’s team should be experienced. 2) due to this year’s poor record, WP should have a favorable schedule next year.
Despite their bad record this year, on the bright side they played everyone relatively close. Lost by 14 to New RO, 10 to No Rock, 7 to JJEF. They’re probably not as bad as their record indicates.
Scary, interesting. I thought MW RB was very good. QB too. They always seem to have very good defense. I saw the STep game. Then watched last weeks game vs Warwick. 14 – 13 not great but…
Now looking at Pine Bush. Looking at scores, they have been unstoppable except for one game, MW… does that mean something? Just dont know. WIth MW struggling to score last couple of weeks this seems to be all leading to something good. SHould be a great match up. MW D playing well this year, but so has Pione Bush D(even better).
Coaching staff for MW been there before(HC was asst coach) so I think I will go with them.
Just,
I think MW just hit a wall for some reason. They’ve lost 2 of their last 3 after winning 6 straight to start the season. They blew out Warwick 37-6 early in the season, then barely squeaked by them last week 14-13. I don’t know exactly what is the problem with MW, but they clearly are not as strong as they were early in the year. I think Pine Bush might take it.
Hoops, has MW lost a key player? Was theirRB the only guy that could carry the rock aka Connell from North Rock?
Just,
My best guess as to why MW is struggled so much the last 3 games in twofold; 1) other teams got to watch enough film on them to devise some schemes to slow down their O/attack their D and most importantly 2) while they were playing like a team possessed weeks 2-6, the invariable bumps, bruises and fatigue that develop over a long season have caught up to them and they lost some of the edge they had early in the season.
I’ve only seen MW against Step. They had a lefty QB Carr who could run or throw, a very solid RB Tooma who returned several kicks for TDs early in the year and a tall WR Kallenberger who was very good. I don’t see the stats up yet for last week’s Warwick game, but all three played in the NFA and Minisink Valley losses. Carr is over 1000yds passing on the season and almost 899 rushing – 8tds pass/10tds rush, Tooma has 625yds rushing – 8 tds rush/2 kick returns, Kaffenberger has 41 catches for 668yds.
One of the things that stuck with me from the MW/Step game was that MW really seemed to be playing like a team possessed – they had decent size but were not huge – they had good athletes but not great – they had a solid, shifty QB but he was not naturally gifted in size, speed or as a passer – Tooma was another shifty runner but he wasn’t as running anyone over or dominating physically – the D hit hard and tackled very well, but again they not huge or particularly fast. Against Step, MW also did a great job capitalizing on every Step mistake. As the season has progressed its possible opposing teams have just limited the mistakes from early in the season.
Just and PPR,
I really think the stars are aligning for a New Ro trip to the state final. First off, its a good year for New Ro in that the top handful of teams in NYS are not in the NYPHSAA playoffs (Canisius, Iona, St As, Tottenville and Chaminade). Second, I think the matchups in the eastern half of the state are definitely looking conducive for New Ro.
Unless MW makes a major change this week, it looks like Pine Bush will get through Sect 9. Pine Bush is an almost entirely run based O with little passing game. I think New Ro will do well against any run based O that is not much of a passing threat, particularly a team that lacks the athleticism that New Ro has.
The Sect 2 Final is Shaker/Shen. Shaker blew them out earlier in the year, but Shaker barely got by Schnectedy in the semis – apparently a bad call on the goal line cost Schnectedy a chance to tie it. Sect 2 is not particularly strong so its hard to judge Shen or Shaker. Both Shen and Shaker have decent passing games, but nowhere near the spread O like No Bergen.
I watched the New Ro/No Bergen game on MSG Varsity – exciting game – you both should watch it. I can see New Ro struggling a lot with an up tempo passing game, but I just don’t see it until at least the state final for them.
Hoops, some interesting stuff.
Cant find any tape on pine bush but I have a feeling MW will be ready. It is looking good for new ro! All the pieces coming together!
