Josh, how do the class B playoffs work…....Teams like Pville Westlake Croton Lourdes have a significantly tougher schedule than Edgemont and Briarcliff…..is there some type of power points system? Thanks.
PLAYOFF SPOTS WILL BE UP FOR GRABS,ANY TEAM ON THE OUTSIDE LOOKING IN CAN GET A FOOT IN THE DOOR,GOOD LUCK

Can you put up the state rankings?
Just
Fun with stats: Is New Rochelle officially a passing team? It’s apparent that the philosophies at New Rochelle are changing. Traditionally a Wing-T team that predominantly runs the football, the Huguenots are 4-0 and are averaging 293.3 yards per game.
The breakdown is almost even — 143.8 rushing per game and 149.5 passing. And it’s not like one big passing game out of standout quarterback Khalil Edney are weighing the numbers. New Rochelle has been consistent every game with how they run and pass it.
New Rochelle Total Yardage
Opponent Team rushing Khalil Edney passing
C. South (W) 38-204, 2TD 14-21, 205, 3TD
White Plains (W) 40-149, 1TD 7-19, 120, 1TD
Arlington (W) 30-130, 0TD 5-10, 126, 2TD
N. Rockland (W) 27-92, 0 TD 13-25, 147, 2TD
Totals 135-575, 3TD 39-75, 598, 8TD
Prince-Do you think MW would be a tough game??I’m sure you’ve seen them????
How does tz matchup against rye?
How does Nyack matchup against Yorktown?
Don’t know the rest of the schedule but does the Carmel Mamk winner almost lock up a spot? They are seeded so low I can’t imagine either has tough teams left on the schedule
section fan-nyack vs yorktown should be a great game
It’s definately a top ten.Yorktown vs Lakeland will be good this week.

Prince-Do you think MW would be a tough game??I’m sure you’ve seen them????
Sec12
Yes I think so!!! But I think Monroe has not seen a new Ro caliber team they thought stepinac would be but white plains could have served better!!!
That Rye Neck vs. Magnus should be some game Friday night. I wouldn’t miss that one!!
section1football…The way the class b playoffs work is a point system that does take into account the difficulty of schedules…if you lose to a high ranked team its not that big of a loss in points but if you lose to a low ranked team then its a big hit on the points and same goes for a win… a win vs. a higher ranked team is worth more points and a win versus a lower ranked team is a loss in points. The formula the league uses the determine to point systems is very complex and no one could really figure it out unless you were a mathematician.
Sorry..correction a win versus a lower ranked team is not a deduction it’s just not worth as many points comparing to a win versus a higher ranked team which is a bigger gain in points
sec1football, westchester101… It’s actually not that complicated, but it requires some math and changes every week until the regular season is over. Everything is based on a team’s league record and the league records of the opponents it has faced. (Those league records are the second record listed for each team.)
Let’s use Lourdes as an example. The Warriors have a 4-0 league record. To determine each team’s index (playoff seedings are determined by comparing the index of each team in that class), you calculate the following:
Lourdes’ winning percentage (1.000), plus…
The cumulative winning percentages of the opponents Lourdes beat, which are Westlake (.667), Nanuet (.333), Ardsley (.500) and Croton (.667). The total is 3.167, minus…
The cumulative losing percentages of the opponents Lourdes lost to. (.000).
Lourdes’ current index is 3.167.
Now, in Class B, the teams with the Top 4 indexes will qualify for the playoffs. In the semifinals, the No. 1 team will host No. 4, and No. 2 will host No. 3. The winners will meet in the championship.
In class A playoffs does it crossover??For example.does the 1 seed of League 1 play the 4 seed of League 2?
carmel or mamaroneck being in the final 4 with there schedules would be hard to understand—if either goes 6-1 are they in automatically ?
Josh, don’t use Lourdes as an example…Lourdes is out of your coverage area…
lol at Rob
@Sectionfan – - I watched TZ against Harrison and TZ has a good offense but their Defense was alittle sketchy at sometimes but then again, Harrison will make you look that way.
I think TZ and Rye should be a close game and either team could win. Im curious to see how Rye matches up with JJCR this Saturday night
Best public school game this week Wayne Hills vs Ramapo
Speed on defense, RT. It’s what you need against JJCR. That at least gives Rye a shot….
I went to Tuckahoe last weekend to watch Tuckahoe play Dobbs Ferry. Big spirited crowd so it was a fun game to watch. Tuckahoe team speed is pretty incredible for Class D. They resemble Bronxville’s team last year. Dobbs is ok, has a few very good players, but lacks offensive weapons and team speed on D.
I have seen Bronxville and think they will lose to both. Tuckahoe will present same challenge Woodlands and RCDS posed – speed. Dobbs is well coached and will exploit Bronxville’s weaknesses on offense and defense.
If Bronxville loses to Tuckahoe and Dobbs that will be four losses. What does that mean in terms of playoffs for the Broncos?
@oldnintheway- good point , your right!
Old Guy… hold off on how well coached Dobbs is. Coach “D” from Tuckahoe took him to the wood shed on Saturday. Play selection was questionable at best… especially not going with an All State fullback on 4th and 2. Dobbs coach inherited a team LOADED with athletes last year that could have won it regardless of who was running the squad. The jury is out and they’ll need more creativity than a desparation half back option play to advance in a watered down Class C.
Big Friday night game @ Lourdes with Irvington on tap !
Warriors should roll !
Admirals will take a shot at Poughkeepsie this week !
Young Junior QB Brandon Tobin is emerging …...
According to KDJ, Harrison’s (Junior) RB Mike Amicucci is the leading rusher in the Section
Who is faster, JJCR or Sleepy? b/c Rye D looked slow vs. Sleepy.
Casual Rey fan:
Having seen both, I thought JJCR was faster, but the difference may have been offensive execution. Sleepy didn’t execute at all against Harrison, whereas JJCR’s first half against the Huskies may have been the best half they played this year. Also, I’m a bit surprised. Everyone else has said that Rye’s defense is very fast to the ball.
Arlington is the only 0-4 team this side of creation who has the gall to make even a peep.
Rye is a very young team. Many sophs/jrs playing important roles, often on both sides of the ball. It could be the younger kids just didn’t have it going that nite vs. Sleepy. The only other time I saw the Garnets was vs. a weak Greeley team. Every Rye player looked fast that nite.
@casualryefan – everyone looks superhuman vs. Greeley

Wow!! So he must have had like 400 yards last week…
will arlington get its first win friday , gotta stop the speed
@Class A – why are you hating? Look up power rankings on msgvarsity, and you could see it in black and white, if you can read! LOL

What Devaney wrote on the power rankings was “Mike Amicucci has piled up yards and touchdowns and leads the deepest backfield in the section.” Not that he’s the leading rusher in Section 1.
Those stats are not accurate, at least for Soave. He has 781 yards rushing. He had 320 in one game alone.
No other player in the section has that many.
Class A — Have A Nice Day!
Looking at those stats – - If any of those players get hurt, it hurts the team. Amicucci has done half the work load then the others, meaning teams are relying on one person to win games.
Well, I’m sure Arlington will try to “take a shot” at Poughkeepsie, but where will it land? Plus, D’Andre Smith isn’t an easy target to hit…
Good point on Soave’s stats, Josh. Even more strange why their coach didn’t give him the ball on 4th and 2 yards to go in a one possesion (at the time) game???
