Carmel High School will host two of the best days of local summer football schedule this weekend. The Rams will welcome a host of schools for 7-on-7 action on Friday and Saturday and will also serve as the site for the annual lineman challenge.
I’m scheduled to cover Ray Rice Day Saturday morning. Afterward, I’m heading up to catch the second part of the lineman challenge.
Here are the results from last year’s Lineman Challenge. Although I wasn’t able to secure a complete list, Carmel coach Todd Cayea said most of the same teams are expected to attend.
Below is a list of teams scheduled to participate in each of the 7 on 7s. Games will run from 5:30-9 p.m. Friday night and 9 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Saturday. The Lineman Challenge will run simultaneously with Saturday’s 7 on 7.

MSG Varsity will broadcast an entire 30 minute show from the Carmel 7 on 7 and lineman challenge. And don’t worry, we will be able to secure a complete list, even if Josh isn’t capable…
I think it’s time we start breaking down the upcoming season by Class …front-runners, sleepers, special players, etc. I also think it’s time for some Class B and C/D experts to start chipping in with their opinions and knowledge.
Who’s got the inside scoop on AA?
” ” A ?
” ” B ?
” “C/D?
SAMMY
NEW RO IS THE BEST TEAM IN CLASS AA WITH NORTH ROCKLAND A CLOSE 2ND
Class A – You have 7 to 9 teams so close to win the Section
IMO i think this year Somers will take POK! But Somers will not win the Section
WOW….is that Kevin taking a shot at Josh?????
MSGVARSITY… I will eagerly anticipate seeing your list after the competition has ended. Maybe you can shoot me tonight’s Yankee lineup after tonight’s game, too, so we can post it online.
#BOOM!!!!!
HOLLOW
NO WAY!!!!! .........
Hollow Fan… I’m sure it’s one of the usual trolls. Plus, if he or she had the list, where would he or she post it? Ironically, that person would post it here.
The truth is, Cayea doesn’t have the list. I’ve know him since I was 15. I’m pretty sure he’d supply it if he had one.
The event is actually not operated by Carmel. It’s run by the company whose website I linked to this morning.
Anyway, anybody want to discuss Super 11 candidates? I’m about to post them.
Prince, who could it

arlington looking for another lineman challenege victory, wouldnt be surprised to see a repeat and a possiblle overtake from nfa
look out for lourdes, looks like this is their year , biggest line in section 1 , good backs and a talented qb ,
arlington with the repeat
josh, any article coming up soon?
A few obsevations from today about Dutchess teams:
JJEF has some work to do, qb position may be an issue. Will be a run team. Not news.
Arl line looked strong, I left early but I assume they won the lineman challange.
Lourdes looked pretty good, huge line. #1 on Lourdes may have been best WR there today, should be a JJEF kid I was told.
FDR line also vey strong, section 9 AA very strong league.
7 on 7’s in June mean nothing, playing MEANINGFUL games in November is what HS football in NYS is about.
top 4 today results: arlington,FDR,lourdes,Brewster
results above were for lineman challenge
great day today , good to see all the kids getting back into football mode ,
Per Josh’s Twitter:
“Interesting: Somers basketball star John Decker is in competition as the football team’s starting QB.”
That is interesting, how did he look at 7on7s for those who were there?
White Plains looked rlly solid on friday, defense could do some work but the offense started playing suberb against ketcham step. Yorktown. Sleep on white plains if u want but u guys will definately be surprised… And Iona is the best team in westchester and would smack new ro if they played juss sayin

leggo,
thanks for the info on WP. I’d heard they had some talented young kids on the JV last year. I think some people are writing WP off too early. They’ll be young and will likely have some rough days, but there is always talent at WPHS.
Hoops fan,
Very true gotta respect tht tiger pride
