It took a while, but I have all the results from the Upstate-Downstate Football Classic, which was played Sunday at the Carrier Dome.
Nine local players participated: John Jay RB Danny Caiola, John Jay DB Declan Myer, Poughkeepsie KR Josh Oliver, Poughkeepsie DL Robert Johnson, Stepinac DE/OLB Garfield Heslop, Horace Greeley QB Justin Ciero, Croton-Harmon LB Kyle Ricciardi, Pelham WR Ke’shaun Stallworth and Gorton OL Keith Robinson.
Their team, the Downstate team, won the game 27-23. Caiola was among the standouts, rushing for 54 yards and a touchdown with 6:51 left in the third quarter that put the Downstate team on top for good. He also caught two passes for 30 yards and went away with offensive MVP honors.
Ciero played a strong game in part-time duty at quarterback, rushing for 43 yards on eight carries and completing 2-of-4 passes for 12 yards. Ricciardi and Myer led the locals with three tackles on defense, and Heslop recorded two, including a sack.
Below is a complete box score and stat highlights of all of the local players on the Downstate team. If you go past the jump, you can see the complete box score and stat sheet for the game.
A big hat tip to Nolan Weidner of the Syracuse Post Standard for helping out.

where is Stallworth headed next year?
What happened to the NY V NJ game?
Stallworth is going to Cortland.
good for him… Hope it all works out for him.. good kid.
all that talk comparing him and LJ seems like a long time ago. Lol
GLAD TO SEE SECTION 1, BE A BIG PART OF THE VICTORY,”HATS OFF”
CONGRATS TO ALL OF SEC1 PLAYER…... GREAT JOB!!.. WE PLAY FOOTBALL IN WESTCHESTER!!..
DONALD .. I REMEMBER A WHILE BACK EVERYONE COMPARING STALLWORTH TO LJ THERE BOTH ELITE SEC1 ATHLETES!!!
Do we know what position stallworth is going to play? Where is LJ going?
Stallworth was recruited to play runningback at Cortland but I’m sure he will play slot also
Last I heard LJ is headed to Syracuse with a full academic scholarship.
I thought Stallworth was being recruited by the likes of Albany, Stony Brook, Towson and other D 1 AA.
Did his play drop off that much to DIII?
Ram Grad… I can’t speak for what happened, but I can tell you that Cortland football is pretty good. It’s not much of a dropoff from a low D-I.

Any news from the WP 7 on 7? I have seen bits an pieces from bloggers, but nothing from Josh!!!
dm50… I’m going to piece together some info tonight. Obviously, I was not there.
LJ did get a full academic scholarship to SU, I heard he is going to try and walk on. Hats off to a kid who put his school plans ahead of all else. Best of luck LJ!
On a side note, Another westchester kid made the big show. Rich Ranglin 6’3 315, who played for Saunders from 2001-2003, just got sign by the KC Chiefs. Best of luck!

I think this an excellent point. Cortland right there with some of those d1aa schools!!!
Stallworth was being recruited by those schools but i hear his grades weren’t up to par, i’m guessing he will try and transfer after a year at cortland after he gets his business organized. He will probably start speaking with those D1 schools soon after the upcoming football season. Also i heard he chose Cortland over AIC.
STALLWORTH WILL DO WELL AT CORT… HE IS A VERY TALENTED PLAYER!!!...#NEW RO Y.T.L.

Prince, that last piece very important!!!
section 1
you don’t see many kids tranfering out of cortalnd for D1 schools. It’s not like a community college. Besides, between school work and practice he’s not going to have time. No one at cortland is garunteed a starting job so he will need to work hard on the field and in the classroom, believe me when I tell you this, if his grades don’t come in where they need to he wont be playing. The hardest adjustment these kids have comming out of high school is the amount of school work reading and studying they have to do no matter where they go to college.
I wish the young man good luck, if I could give him any advice it would be study, study, study.
True but stallworth has talked to the University of New Hampshire, Stony Brook, Towson, and Albany he’ll def try and transfer with those schools courting him.

JUST…... I HAD TO GIVE THEM JUST A LIL REMINDER!!... #
SEC1
WHY DIDN’T HE JUST GO PREP OR JUCO!!.. THAT MAKE MORE SENSE THEN LEAVING A 4 YR SCHOOL AFTER ONE YEAR!..
Prince,
good point… This is the problem,,, if he is thinking about transfering after a year then his head is not in the right place. The first year of college is such a big adjustment and all your foucs needs to be on that, if it’s not you can have a very difficult year. Besides cortland has a heck of a football program..
My advice would be
If I was stall worth, sunny cortland get ur education, become gym teacher. By the time u r 32 u will be making $100k.. And u can coach any sport u want!!!
If you have business aspirations, Albany or stony point would be good schoosl to transfer to.
Fordham???
I say stay at cortland and get paid!!!
Prince, they do forget about the building blocks of what make these kids into players.. They think they have a piece of clay in 9 th grade that they mold!!! No no no no!!!
Ytl players get to the HS already Football players!!!
Someone ask Ray Rice if I am wrong????
Stonybrook!!!
THE DONALD
IF THE COACH OF A 4 YR PROGRAM KNOW THAT YOUR JUST PASSING THROUGH HE WILL NOT PUT ANY TIME INTO YOU OTHER THEN USING YOU AS A PRACTICE DUMMY!!.. UNLESS HE KNOW THAT YOUR A BLUE CHIP D1 PLAYER TRYING TO GET SOMETHINGS IN ORDER AND KNOW THAT ANY D3 PROGRAM IN THE COUNTRY WOULD TAKE YOU
