Some quick basketball notes:
• Chris DiCintio (Rye) and Steve Veteri (Yorktown) won’t return to their teams next season, leaving both jobs open this offseason. Both athletic directors said they hope to fill the positions in the coming weeks.
• DiCintio is the new coach at Somers, where he will replace Mark Tanzi, who stepped down immediately following the season.
• After a successful debut at NewRoc City, the Hoops for a Cure showcase will return in 2013. According to the organizer, Saunders coach Anthony Nicodemo, the schedule will include: Saunders’ boys and girls teams vs. Eastchester; Poughkeepsie vs. White Plains; and New Rochelle vs. Middletown.
• The Woodlands job has been posted, but Bob Murphy is expected to return next season. Murphy led the Falcons to the Section 1 Class B championship in 2010.

One of the applicants for the Rye job is a former D-1 college head coach.

How about Mike D’Antoni??? His son is on the team…..do you think Rye could run the “D’Antoni System”?
Why is Yorktown not hiring the JV coach as head varsity coach,here kids and parents love him.
Give the Yorktown JV coach a chance! I heard Somers denied their JV coach and hired DiCintio. You have these young coaches working their tails off for an opportunity than the AD’s refuse to give them a chance. These AD’s want young loyal coaches but dont repay them with loyalty. Instead they look else where for head coaches. I say give these kids a chance to perform you never know what type of coach you have until you give them an opportunity.

I think you misunderstood my point which is to give the young coach a chance to perform considering they put in the time an effort to deserve a chance.
If you think it’s about X’s and O’s your sadly mistaken.
Talking hoops in June but no mention as to the destination for next year of kids like:
Stephens, Marshall, Quadere, Jones = Mt Vernon
Nolan, Sky = Tuckahoe
Iacuone = Stepinac
And anyone else out there who made headlines.

Veteri didn’t get the heave ho, he resigned.. Rye has a new coach, John Aguilar former Rye Neck coach, he teaches at Rye.
