The first tryout for Section 1’s team at the BCANY Summer Hoops Festival squad will be Tuesday, May 29. The workout will be held at Mamaroneck HIgh School from 6-8 p.m.
There will be additional tryouts but they have not been scheduled as of yet.
This will be the second annual Summer Hoops Festival, which was created by the Basketball Coaches Association of New York to fill the void left by the cancelation of the Empire State Games. This year’s games are scheduled for Aug. 3-5 at Johnson City High School near Binghamton.

who is eligible to try out? any age?
I WOULD SAY HIGH SCHOOL PLAYERS
It was limited to high school players last year. During the days of the Empire State Games, there was an open category, which was for college players. There is a BCANY website that should have more information.
The tryouts are open to players that have H.S. eligibility remaining. You must be in the class of 2013 or later.
This team is a joke. Same garbage as the empire state games.
lol at a joke… these kids would run you off the court—if you could make it up and down once that is.
STATESMAN,
WHAT’S UP,
2 QUESTIONS:
#1-NBA TITLE?
#2-IS EVERYTHING IN POK LAND “LOOKING GOOD”FOR FOOT AND B.BALL?
I do not mean the kids. I mean the way it is set up. All Westchester kids. Does not really represent a Hudson Valley team and always the same coaches.
a joke,
Understood. Not a problem… Hudson Valley players get the shaft due to being up north….
Haywood,
Tough call. I’d like to see the Heat win so people can get off LBJ’s Johnson but the total team ball from the Western Conference champs will likely be too much for Boston or Miami to overcome…
Pok’s football is looking good. Bringing back some nice size and have the athletes to match again. Last year was special so I don’t expect replication but I do believe they will be in the mix again… The turf is def a help… Moving slowly so we’ll see if it’s ready by September… We’ll see.
PK Basketball is nice… Bringing nearly everyone back and the guys are taking the off-season seriously. Getting stronger and filling voids in their games. Anything can happen once December hits, but I think this team will be an A version of Pok’s team 2 season ago… They can be as good as they want and it is scary… Learning to play smarter, controlling the tempo to their advantage will be a nice lesson to learn…
Statesman,
Thanks for feedback, see you in pelham
Haywood,
No problem… Looking forward to a return visit, lol.
