Spring Valley native Terry Brutus has committed to Ole Miss during his visit to the school this weekend.
The 6-foot-5 forward is a 2011 Spring Valley graduate. He transferred back to the school – and his home district – from Long Island Lutheran midway through his senior season.
I hope to touch base with Brutus and will have more on the story later.

CONGRATS,and good luck, take full advantage, and brighten your future
Can someone comment on how good Terry Brutus is. I never saw him play. But last season 2010-2011 SV won 5 or 6 games with Brutus and DJ Foreman (6 7” swingman) and a lot of the usual SV talent. In class A section 1 that should be enough to win 12-14 games minimum.
Sec 1, Brutus is a ridiculous athlete. He is also very , very strong and well built. Limited in terms of his overall offensive game(i. e shooting, and dribble drive ability). Great fit in a wide open offense. Ole Miss is a nice fit.
In terms of SV not succeeding, it had to do with the guard play. The kids couldn’t get them the ball when pressured. They also didn’t look for them as the offense was not structured around the bigs. SV got mauled by teams like TZ that year. Good defensive teams that attacked the guards. Nothing you can do as a big man when you can’t get touches.
Saw Brutus when he was with SV for a short time. Thought Foreman was more talented and had much higher. I think Brutus was mailing it in a bit when he came back home.
