According to members of the Section 1 basketball committee, the Biondi boys basketball team is under investigation for using an illegal player during Friday’s Class D championship game.
Biondi won its third straight Section 1 title by defeating Greenburgh Academy 69-59 at the County Center. Hours after the game ended, officials announced that the championship was in question.
Section 1 boys basketball chairman Roman Catalino did not know when a decision would be rendered. However, it will likely come before Tuesday when Biondi is scheduled to meet the Section 9 winner at 3 p.m. in the state regional semifinals at the County Center.
If Biondi is deemed to have used an illegal player it would forfeit the championship. Runner-up Greenburgh Academy would then be Section 1’s representative in the state playoffs.

Too bad for coach Bob, he finally wins a championship and it could be taken away from him. Truthfully, serves him right!
I really wish all the catholic schools and reform schools played in catholic playoffs and independent school playoffs. I have no problem allowing them to play in league schedules but come playoff time out they go.
“jetsstink” is correct. They should not be playing in the playoffs. Maybe they should not even be in the public school domaine. They belong in the catholic or independent domaine.
WHY DOES IT SERVE HIM RIGHT??
