Weather forced the postponement of today’s Class A semifinals at the County Center. Poughkeepsie schools were closed.
The Class B semifinals will remain on as scheduled. The Class A semis were pushed back to Friday, and the start times for the Class A semis were both pushed to later in the evening.
The girls schedule remains unchanged.
Here’s a look at the revised Championship Week schedule:

They will not. In the schedule I received from Section 1 exec director Jen Simmons, it does not indicate that.
haywood… Just confirmed with her that it’s single admission on Friday.
This was a terrible decision by Simmons. The class A games should be the later times.
I agree, Isaac. What more can you expect from the much maligned J. Simmons. Needs to take lessons in logistics. Hate when Pok get the early game. At least for a 4:45 slot I can slide out of work on a good conscience.

makes no sense.. Here you have a chance to make money and clear the place out after 2 games and make a profit. Just what MV fans need, everyone hanging around to watch them and the place is full. The 2 teams coming the furthest away are playing at 3:00. what is that?

I will def be there and I will be there early. So the hotdog will be waiting for you when you arrive. I normally sit mid court balcony on the side of the benches.
Actually, spacecadet, not clearing out the County Center after the first two games might turn out to the best decision Section 1 has made in this affair. There might not be that many people at the early games to begin with, and even if there were, I’m not convinced that many would be willing to stick around until 8:15 (or later) – even if it is Mount Vernon playing…
Due to my off-shift work schedule, I’ll be able to make the early games Friday, but it’s not really fair to fans who work during the day (especially those who come from the two northernmost schools in the Section). I guess moving the games to tomorrow wasn’t an option… I’ll try to keep everyone informed via Twitter…
Well, statesman, Ms. Simmons used to oversee Ketcham’s athletic programs. That says it all right there… Hope you’re able to work something out with your employer so you can drop by the County Center and get that hotdog.
It is snowing outside, FWIW, but it’s not exactly blizzard conditions as I type this… Better safe than sorry, I guess…
Why does everyone seem to be complaining about the start times of the early games? There was a 3pm start yesterday, there is a 3pm start today, and there is a 3 pm start tomorrow, and obviously Friday as well. I’m sure if you really wanted to go to the game, you will find a way to make it down there. You can’t control the weather. Unfortunately it is snowing in the more northern parts of Section 1. It sucks that games are so early, but you really can’t start them much later. Unless you want these kids playing at 12 or 1 in the morning.

An early game time for PK causes the players to miss classes, this should never be allowable. I thought education was the priority. The trip is 1 1/2 hrs. This is a terrible decision by a person from Dutchess who is a coward to the Westchester Section I people. If Simmons is this scared maybe she should step down and let someone else take the reigns and move Dutchess to Section 9.
I think the teams coming furthest should play last so fans don’t have to leave work an hour and a half early for traveling or kids missing school.

THEY DON’T CARE FOR YEARS THEY HAD US GOING BACK AND FOURTH ON WED. AND THURSDAY TO SEE MV BOYS AND GIRLS PLAY AND WOULD ONLY PUT THEM BACK TO BACK IN THE FINALS AT THE COUNTY OR IN THE REGIONALS,ON WED. THE GIRLS WOULD PLAY AT 3,ON THURSDAY THE BOYS WOULD PLAY AT 445 IT WAS NUTS
Besides the Mt. Vernon faithful, who is going to stay at their game past halftime, when they know the game will be over by the end of the first quarter? An 8:15 game should not result in a 30 point blowout!!
Also, the AA and A boys championships should be back to back on Sunday and not split up by the girls matchups. The place would be packed all the way through those 2 games!!
Peek you are so right about the AA and A championship. Anyone outside of Westchester isn’t going to hang on that side of the bridge for both games.

Magnus by 30 over croton. Burke will win section nine. Reform schools in final four. PLease nys do something about this. I am not against the kids or coaches from those schools but they should be in private/catholic playoffs. Enough is enough.

J, most basketball fans, especially those of Peekskill and Poughkeepsie would come to see both games because they are generally Basketball fans and know good games when they see them.
I may spend the night in th city tmrw, get to work at about 6am instead of my usual 7:30 sans the commute, leave at about noon. Still a solid 6 hrs on the clock and I’ll have more then enough hours for the week and being that I never taste OT, I’ll he there. I’ll link up w/ my buddies, Jeff, Wood, Prince and HRs. Hopefully Pok can give us a Sunday trip to make up for it

Thanks a lot! I’ll work extra hard to earn that meal. If a man dont work, he dont eat. Sometimes I’m not sure if hard work equals success. Since I’m not rolling in dough and am grinding just to live we feel like we’re drowining sometimes. It is what it is, it’s never easy. Luckily, hard work is all I know! Be safe out there today.
