An e-mail from a reader last night tipped me off to some very sad news. Michael Ice, a former student-athlete at Rye High School, died at the age of 22 when he was struck by a subway train in lower Manhattan early Saturday morning.
Ice was a former basketball player at Rye. He graduated in 2007 and also went on to graduate from the University of Richmond. He had recently started his career as a financial analyst for Merrill Lynch.
According to a story on the tragedy on LoHud.com, a wake will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. at Graham Funeral Home in Rye. Ice’s funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Resurrection Church in Rye.
