Recruiting update: Ciero, Hennessy, Parkinson all make college choices

Posted by: Josh Thomson - Posted in Football on Feb 08, 2012

I have three quick football commitments to share. All three were finalized on Tuesday.

Justin Ciero, Horace Greeley: If you missed my post on Twitter last night, Ciero (pictured right), a three-year star at Greeley, has chosen to continue his career at Colby. The senior intends to play quarterback. He had Division I-AA opportunities as a QB, including Marist.

Thomas Hennessy, Don Bosco Prep: The long-snapping prospect from Bardonia — who I wrote about last summer — committed to Duke during a visit to Durham yesterday. Hennessy garnered a lot of collegiate attention thanks to his success at special teams’ camps last year. Duke had long been a favorite of his because of its academic reputation.

Will Parkinson, Mamaroneck: The senior wide receiver (pictured above, in white) visited Towson on Tuesday and committed to play football for the school. He was one of the leading receivers in Section 1 the last two seasons, catching 51 passes for 840 yards and nine touchdowns.

Thank you Justin Ciero for making the RIGHT choice by picking Colby over Marist. Ciero could have played 1-AA ball, but he realized that football isnt everything, and that Colby and its academics will give him the best opportunity to have a successful future.

Marist is a strong academic school in its own right… Still, congratulations to Justin Ciero on his college choice; hopefully he’ll continue to have the same success at Colby that he did at Greeley…
