As I said this morning, tomorrow is National Signing Day for football recruits. It’s the first day players can officially “sign” with the schools they have committed to.
Here’s a look at who will sign and when the school will host its signing ceremony:
Croton-Harmon — Kyle Ricciardi (Army), Jesse Mainiero (Marist), 6:30 p.m.
Hackley — A.J. Wolf (Duke), 10:15 a.m.
Iona Prep — Justin Combs (UCLA), 2:45 p.m.
Kennedy — John Lopez (Elon), 2:30 p.m.
New Rochelle — Anthony Caldararo (New Rochelle), 3:15 p.m.
Ossining — Brian Connolly (Bucknell), 8:30 a.m.
Stepinac — Austin Taps (Penn); Jesse Gwin (C.W. Post); Przemyslaw Popek (Stony Brook), 11 a.m. *
- Caleb Gilligan-Evans will not officially sign with Yale tomorrow because of a paperwork issue.

What about the few kids who we’ve heard committed to 1AA schools, but aren’t mentioned above- Brennan (Bryant) and the Conways. Are they just not having signing ceremonies?

Gilligan-Evans and the Conways will NOT sign with Yale tomorrow. Dennis O’Connell will NOT sign with Bryant.

I kept trying to post this under the Lucas Post, but it kept not going through, don;t know why. Anyway…Under the Small World category, it’s weird how things work out sometimes. When Kermit Buggs was recruiting Section 1 for Penn St., they passed on Lucas. Then O’Brein gets the job. He was the OC at Duke when Oregon DL Coach Jerry Azzinaro was the DC at Duke. A New Rochelle Assistant Coach played for Azzinaro in college. He called Azzinaro and asked him if he would call O’Brien and have him take a look at Lucas’ film. He did, and the next thing you know O’Brien falls in love with Lucas and offers. I really think in big time college football recruiting, it’s who you know, in order to get films looked at by the right people. I wish more coaches in Section 1 had connections like that so more of our players would get big time looks!

Prince, I agree but to be fair, if you played for a coach tough to replace that type of connection. I think it would be beneficial and recommmended for teams to hire guys that played college or coached college, even as assts coaches for their HS teams, because they will have more connections then the guy that played HS football and now is teaching gym class. Just the way it goes. But all Coaches should continue to try and extend their connnections as much as possible. It will only benefit the players in the end.

..^.(*** ****!**) SEC1 THE BEST Are we ever 100% sure of anything? That’s what I was told at the New Roc Coaches Clinic when the news broke that Azzinaro set the wheels in motion with O’Brien because a former player called him to see if O’Brein would have any interest. They also said that Iowa was going to get involved because Jordan Canzeri of Troy told Iowa OC Ken O’Keefe that he should look at Lucas film, and O’Keefe once coached at Worcester Academy, where Lucas went to Prep school. But when Lucas committed to Penn St that angle was never pursued.

Gilligan-Evans was offered & verbally committed on official visit on December 4 th to be exact. Gilligan- Evans committed before staff was fired & new on was hired.

First, I’d like to say the whole signing day coverage is great. I don’t remember years ago there being anything special done in the paper about Signing Day, so the blog has really created some nice coverage of the event. Its a nice culmination of watching kids we’ve seen progress over the years being celebrated for all their hard work.
Second, do you have any info about some of the kids who have not been mentioned recently – Everett, Franklin, Evans from New Ro, McDowdell, Bacchus, etc.?
Crusaders#1… Odaine has not signed anywhere as of yet. He is exploring a lot of different options, according to Skip Stevens, who I saw yesterday.
