Bishop Gormon (Nev.) 81, Rye 33: At the Beach Ball Classic in Myrtle Beach, S.C., Rye started strong against the No. 9-ranked team in the latest USA Today Super 25. The Garnets trailed just 12-8 part way through the first half. But Bishop Gorman then went on a 28-0 run through the middle and late stages of the half. Rye responded with a quick five-point burst late but still trailed 44-13 at the break.
Max Twyman led Rye with nine points. Kamal Logue added eight points and two steals. Michael Garofalo had four points, seven rebounds and seven assists.
Shabazz Muhammad, the top-rated player in the country, led Bishop Gorman with 24 points and eight rebounds in 16 minutes. He shot 10 of 16 from the field and had three assists. Stanford commit Rosco Allen added 12 points, while UNLV commit Demetrius Morant added 11. According to the tournament’s website, Bishop Gorman played without the services of Oregon signee Ben Carter, who is injured and will not be playing at the Beach Ball Classic.

Horace Greeley 58, Somers 46: In the first round of the George Budries Tournament at Yorktown High School, Harrison Brown led the Quakers with 19 points. Greeley will play Dobbs at 5 p.m. at Yorktown HS Wednesday in the final. Somers plays Yorktown at 1 in the consolation.
Dobbs Ferry 58, Yorktown 26: In the first round of the George Budries Tournament at Yorktown High School, Eric Paschall had 18 points and Thomas Fleming had 16. Greeley will play Dobbs at 5 p.m. at Yorktown HS Wednesday in the final. Somers plays Yorktown at 1 in the consolation.
