One of the surprise teams so far in Section 1 has been the Pleasantville Panthers. We all know how good they were in 2009 and 2010 when the were hard-luck runner-ups to Lincoln Hall and Woodlands. After a very tough season, Chris Welsh took over and his new team has far exceeded its modest preseason expectations.
Pleasantville won again tonight, beating Edgemont 74-51 behind the play of one of Class B’s emerging talents, Jack Eisenberg. That puts the Panthers at 7-0 entering the Christmas break. They’ll face perhaps their toughest challenge of the season next when they host Croton-Harmon on Jan. 4.
There’s not much, but here’s a look at tonight’s results…
NYSD 45, Lexington School SD 30: At New York School for the Deaf Wednesday, Michael Bowling had 16 points and seven rebounds. Wigner De La Cruz Mota added 11 points and Juan Sosa had 10 rebounds.
Pleasantville 74, Edgemont 51: At Edgemont, Jack Eisenberg had 23 points for the Panthers, who improved to 7-0. Greg Nicolai added 13 points. Paul Edmin led Edgemont with 21 points.
Riverside 55, Palisade Prep 46: At Palisade Prep, Ian Parker had 16 points and six and Khalif Mason had 13 points and 16 rebounds for the Rams. Kevin Sabino led Palisade Prep with 20 points.
Briarcliff 52, Rye Neck 37: At Briarcliff, Tyriek Johnson had 12 points. Matt Franks had 17 points for the Panthers.
Lourdes 69, Pawling 58: At Lourdes, Kyle Santoro had 23 points to lead Lourdes. Cameron Thomas led Pawling with 20 points.

Once again Mookie Jones does not get off the bench in a 20 point win, syracuse announcers are reporting that he refused to go into the game when it was deemed ” garbage time” .... SMH.
By the way I saw Eisenberg from P’ville the other day at Valhalla he is good, gets to the hoops and can shoo the 3
Hoopster… That’s definitely a sad story.
I thought this would be a critical year for Mookie Jones up at Syracuse. He was and is in a very tough spot for playing time since he got there – similar to Jonathan Mitchell from Mt Vernon, when he played for Florida his first two years. Mitchell decided to cut bait with Billy Donovan after two years of limited PT and no promise of more playing time in the future. He finished at Rutgers and was a bright light on a bad Big East team. Sounds as if Jones probably should have followed suit and looked for a program that could better utilize his talents. Boeheim has a doghouse a mile wide. He and Mookie have clashed in the past, so his refusal to play won’t sit well with the man in charge
This might be the first time that Pleasantville was that good since Otis Hill!!
Where can you find rosters? Is Pville young? Do they have any size?
@PeekFatDaddy….you must not remember pleasantville from two years ago then
You also dont remember Kyl Jones team with Glenn Jensen that won 3 section championships
