As you probably know, tournament schedules can be tough to find this time of year. The more teams, the more elusive the schedule.
Well, that’s the case for this Saturday’s Harry Jefferson Showcase at White Plains High School. So here’s a look at the matchups and the schedule:
Saturday, Dec. 17
At White Plains High School —
Nanuet vs. Sleepy Hollow, 10 a.m.: Spencer Mayfield’s son, Spencer, plays for Nanuet, which will meet Rob Rizzo’s new team.
Port Chester vs. Tuckahoe, 11:45 a.m.: A tale of two different teams. The Rams lost all five of their starters and nearly all of their contributors. Tuckahoe returns the bulk of last year’s Class C regional finalists, including stars Sky Williams and Justin Nolan.
Mamaroneck vs. Saunders, 1:30 p.m.: So far, so good for these two teams, neither of which has lost a game yet. The Tigers and their high-scoring guard Matt Mezansky will meet Saunders and its defensive stopper Jerrell Benitez.
Iona Prep vs. Peekskill, 3:15 p.m.: The undersized Red Devils take a big step up in competition. Iona is fresh off a win over “AA” Archbishop Molloy and will bring a big front line led by Tim McCarthy and Felix Abongo.
Poly Prep vs. Newburgh, 5 p.m.: The Goldbacks are on the periphery of the coverage area but are always a factor come state playoff time. They’ll visit White Plains with a new coach, 31-year-old Matt Brown, a 1998 NFA grad.
White Plains vs. Uniondale, 6:45 p.m.: The host lost to Uniondale 69-48 on Dec. 11 last season.
