The CHSFL calculated its rankings and released its playoff seedings tonight. St. Anthony’s earned the No. 1 seed by a large margin but was followed by Stepinac at No. 2. Iona Prep earned the No. 4 seed. Both Stepinac and Iona will host home playoff games in the quarterfinals this weekend.
Stepinac has already decided it will host its game on Sunday at 1 p.m. In general, teams are not allowed to schedule games on Friday or Saturday unless both schools agree to it because some players may have their SAT exam on Saturday.
Here’s a look at the final standings for the AAA playoff teams, which are calculated using power points:
School / Overall and League Record / Power Pts
1. St. Anthony’s (7-0, 7-0) — 160.57

crusader 4 / hoops
congrats to step for getting the #2 seed!! good luck in the playoff!!
DA most hated,
Good morning football god
st anthonys friars #1 in ny win it all easily
Why did iona get a terrible draw. Iona lost to the 2 best teams they played all year. St anthonys and xaverian. Who were seeded preseason #1 and #3
stepinac lost to the 2 best teams they played all year st ants and iona. Preseason #1 and #2.
the difference was the chaminade game. That’s what makes this league very competitive. Every weak is crucial.
keep your fingers crossed, there’s still a decent shot we can see an iona / stepinac final.
haywood
wher have you been you vanished for a lil while
kyle
it doesn’t look like it so far!!
ALL AA AND A GAMES POSTPONED UNTIL WEDNESDAY
Iona showed that St Anthony’s has flaws and can be played to a close game. To say St Anthony’s has it wrapped up is so far from truth.
I bet you the other 6 teams in the playoffs all had some sort of watch over that st a-iona game and took note as to what worked and what didn’t. That way if they face St A’s in the near future it won’t be an easy win for the Friars.
Congrats to all the local CHSFL teams (including MSM and Fordham).
Iona is not the only team….holy cross. Chaminade. And xaverian all gave st ants a great game.
Stat Lines: History of New Rochelle-North Rockland
Since 1998, New Rochelle and North Rockland are the only Section 1 programs to capture Class AA championships. Below are the results between the rivals since 2000:
Year Meeting Result
2010 AA Quarters New Rochelle 21, North Rockland 0
2010 Week 1 New Rochelle 14, North Rockland 7
2009 AA Finals New Rochelle 38, North Rockland 0
2008 Week 2 New Rochelle 21, North Rockland 7
2007 AA Finals New Rochelle 27, North Rockland 0
2006 AA Semis New Rochelle 24, North Rockland 14
2005 AA Semis North Rockland 24, New Rochelle 0
2004 Week 2 New Rochelle 35, North Rockland 7
2004 AA Semis New Rochelle 38, North Rockland 7
2003 AA Finals New Rochelle 19, North Rockland 8
2001 Week 5 North Rockland 31, New Rochelle 0
Devaney’s prediction: Nobody really expected North Rockland would be this good and it’s reasonable to call it the favorite heading into this game based on scores and stats. But the brand of football the Red Raiders play just doesn’t matchup well against a New Rochelle team that matches it in size, physicality and coaching. Expect a low-scoring game that could be decided by a defensive touchdown and a New Rochelle victory. Prediction: New Rochelle 13, North Rockland 7

I meant Iona Got a tough draw because they will have a very tough 1st round game and then play St Anthony in the Semi. I saw the Friars Stepinac game and Stepinac better hope they get knocked off if they make it to the final. They scored so easy and dominated the line of scrimmage, don’t see how the outcome can be any different the second time around.
Cuse,
Since the Stepinac game, St As has apparently had spotty QB play. They actually benched the kid Carew in favor of a soph last week. If St As doesn’t play well, there are several teams in the CHSFL that could beat them on a good day – including Mount!
Hoops fan, I hope you a right. Would love to see the Friars go down. Was at the game when they palyed Stepinac and their fans seemed a little arrogant despite the distinct advantages they have over all the other CHSFL other teams (college looking campus, enrollment, etc….)
Im saying it now…Iona vs Stepinac rematch in the finals. Hope Stepinac can pull it off because next year Iona will probably be the favorite to win

Iona needs to beat a good Chaminade team first before I will start to even think about the Semifinals-
You are right about Iona next year as I am expecting a big big year-
Cuse,
St Anthonys was down late against Holy Cross in week 4 and has been in nailbiters the last three consecutive weeks vs Xaverian, Chaminade and Iona. I think if Mount limits the TOs they will be able to play St As tough. Iona lurking in the semis will be confident they can beat St As if given a second chance. Xaverian is probably playing better than anyone right now.
10605,
I agree Iona will be loaded next year. But so will Xaverian – they return Smith and Kearney…maybe the two best players in the whole league.
Guys..1 game. 1. Season at a time…please!!!
St Anthony’s is in shock .. Even their 90 man Roster; 4 QB’s, 8 RB’s 8 WR’s can’t save them now .. This years final will feature Iona vs Xaverian. A NEW CHAMPION WILL BE CROWNED!AND That .. will be a great day for the CHSFL!
