i WISH you would have included yonkers schools!....
Wishful Thinking,
There used to be something like that call the Big 5 – though everyone didn’t play eachother. This was back when New Ro played Iona every year.
IonaPower,
I think the reason Iona is ranked behind Stepinac and Chaminade right now despite the identical records and the higher pre-season # is SOS. Iona has yet to play St As so their SOS is not as strong as Cham or Step who already played St As. Also, the scheduling gods let Iona miss HC and Mount this year in favor of SJBS, Farrell and Fordham. Iona’s SOS will rise after next week…though their record may not still be the same. Cham is in a similar position with a tough week 8 opponent. You’re right that Step has beaten Fordham several years in a row…but they always seem to be close, hard-fought games, so I don’t think it will be an easy one.
10605,
You’re right. It looks like if Iona pulls off the upset, they jump up to #2 and Stepinac drops to 3. If Cham pulls off an upset, it looks like they’d jump Step as well, Step dropping to #3. I don’t think Xaverian can jump Stepinac if both teams wins – though it would be close. If Iona and Cham both lose, looks like they have a rematch at Cham in week 1. As long as Step can pull out a win, I’m rooting for Farrell to upset HC – I’d rather see HC or Farrell week 1 than Mount.
Bleed blue,
It’s in poor taste that you call out any young single player. If that be the the case you should call out the entire O backfield, White cant see over the line, CGE is a non-factor and hardly gets the ball other than in desperation or lined up as sm sort of end,who btw, missed a block and got hoffer smashed, and lance is just being wasted. Hoffer is the qb the others should be behind him in a power formation. Who could stop that rushing game? They don’t have the talent they had last year and the coaches refuse to adapt to the NEW talent they do have. The spread is dead. When’s the last time you saw them run a sweep or trap? The O line is tremendous, their blocking assignments are NOT. Linemen are the true unsung heros. Both O tackles both guards and the center are unstoppable and sadly under utilized. I’d make room for another ring this year if the coaches and critics like you open their eyes and see what true talent Step has.
