After last week’s final workout was canceled, the Section 1 roster for the first annual BCANY Summer Hoops Festival was pared to 12. Only 10 will be selected to go to Binghamton, but that will be determined before the event is held in August.

Team looks pretty solid but McCahey not being able to play hurts. He was a key part of last years team, I think he had about 20 in the championship.
This seems a bit political… Some of thoose kids are deserving but how did the kids from croton and saunders beat out the kid maloney from byram and mike mcahey from clarkstown? Just saying

WHAT ABOUT FRED BOWERS FROM WOODLANDS. BOTH BIG KIDS AND BETTER THAN SAUNDERS AND CROTON KIDS. MCCAHEY WOULD BE THE 2ND BEST PLAYER ON THE SQUAD TOO.

Iona is not ready for AA. At least not next season. I saw them up in Greenburgh and they struggled against teams that are not AA talented teams. The teams that are playing in the tournament bring their next year’s players. Iona vs Mt Vernon was not pretty. MV crushed them.
I remember last year the nay sayers picking apart the Empire State Games team and they won gold. I bet every single kid on this roster can play ball and will make a contribution. I don’t know every name but I know enough to say that they will at least hold their own.
Section 1 AA – Randy Stephens is a damn good player out of Mt. Vernon. Long lefty guard/forward that can score at the rim .

Who are the coaches for this team and how were they picked?
The team was picked by Coach Thom and Coach Niccodemo. Coach Laffin from Poughkeepsie was going to be on the coaching staff but has a personal conflict the weekend of the tournament. The team looks pretty good. The Clarkstown South kid should be on it though.

No problem with the coaches, just wondering how they were chosen, no big deal..One question how could the Williams kid from white Plains not be on the team. He is a MUCH better player than some of the guards that made the team
