Shame…Would have loved to have seen Greg Scacchi on that list.
Starting five should be the three mount Vernon players, mike mccahey and jermar dancy
2 sAUNDERS PLAYERS = TEAM IS WEAKKKKKK
Why are there are 16 (not 15) names listed?
How many were cut to get to 15/16 and how many will be on the final roster?
Who’s coaching besides Nicodemo? That usually has a lot to do with who tries out and makes the team.
Next years Mt Vernon and Iona Prep Basketball teams play each other next Friday in a tournament in Greenburgh.
Final score – mount Vernon- 79. Iona prep- 63
you cannot gage anything in summer league games. i wouldnt be surprised if this is mount vernon’s j.v. squad anyway.
july is “live” period so i wouldn’t expect any of the better players there, as they will be traveling in the most important aau tourney’s of the season!
FYI
Iona basketball and coach Vic are not playing ANYBODY’s JV team- You might want to look at the success of iona basketball over the last 5 years before thinking Iona is playing some JV team-
Let’s be real here. How is it that a Thom always is on these types of teams? It’s sickening. Three Saunders players? Sigh… politics politics…
It’s Mt Vernon’s and Iona’s Varsity teams. Shaq Townsend did not play the last game because of an injury. Everyone else on both teams played. I hear that MV blew out a teams from the Bronx and Ossining, and Iona played a couple of close games, losing to Sleepy Hollow and playing Spring Valley close. MV is Scary good again for next season. Their guard isaiah cousins looks like next years Mr Basketball.
Fox Lane is in that summer league and they beat Iona Prep and the team from the bronx.
The team looks talented. Dancy is going to be a player at Poughkepsie. He was very good at the Iona team camp.
Sorry, it was Fox lane Iona lost to, not Sleepy Hollow.
Class aa- section champs will be mount Vernon, class A- section champs will be pok.
Iona fans can’t complain about not going to aa if they can’t beat fox lane.
ionapower:
i think you might have missed my point. 1st i clearly stated that you cannot gage anything by summer league games!!! majority of the time both teams do not have their “main” players and in m.vernon’s case they have high level players who i am sure will be traveling during the “live” circuit throughout the month of july.
the greenburg summer league is really not competitive which is why i would not be surprised if mvernon put their younger players in it.
so much success the past 5 years and you are not in the “aa” get a grip buddy!
Politics As Usual…-
have you ever even seen thom play?, ive played against him numerous times, kid can shoot the lights out and can score at will
fyi
Rest assured that Iona will not be in the “a” for more than one season- Most intelligent basketball people would acknowledge that Iona was screwed with the way that process went down.
As far as Iona basketball success is concerned you might want to check the records and also the success of some of the players now in college.
RUMORS ARE THAT IONA WANTS NO PART ON THE CHSAA “AA” DON’T BE SURPRISED IF THEY REAMAIN IN THE SAME LEAGUE NEXT YEAR.
can score at will…against class C and D school’s? Good for him.
lol typical Iona
