Prince, this is where I got confused with how D-1A scholarships work.
“D1 football team are required to offer 85 athletic scholarships (and no more per team) and there are 119 football teams at the 1A level and you can divide 85 by 4 because each coach has about 21.25 scholarships per year. In reality, Division 1 football coaches can offer and distribute no more than 25 scholarships per year, but for use of this example I will stick with 21.25 because they cannot have more than 85 players on the team under full scholarship.”
Prince, the one thing with Coleman and his tape, playmaker yes, he does seem like he can hit too, but a couple of the shots he got were blind sides. Never was a big fan of them. When two players see each other and it is mono e mono, and you lay the kid out, then my hat is tipped!!
He is still bringing the NASTY regardless, and that part I love to see.
Just
I agree about Coleman he he has a nasty side too him he hustle to the ball but from the tape I didn’t see the ability to read and react to a play what I didn’t understand was ther was no disguise blitzes or stunts!!! He was in blitzing mode, and they never adjusted or accounted for him!!! Was the coaches that bad?.... Was he that dominating!!!.....
Prince, he is a very good player, but that is poor Coaching when you do not account for a kid with that type of backside pursuit and play making ability, IMO. Maybe the rest of the team was stacked and the opposing Coaches had to pick their poison? I dont think so. But watching his tape, you can see the defense overall, is aggressive. He has a great highlight tape just wish there was more footage of him head up on someone so you can see more of his skills!
Husky 3K, we gave Nocita some run on here. But maybe it is better to keep everything quiet and he can shock people come Fall 2011!
Just
Maybe that’s what it is ( poor coaching)!!!. I agree the defense was aggressive!!... But just keep in thoughts sweet home won the state chip in class A two years in a row!!!... I think my theory of ther defense had some other beast on it,.... appears most likely!!! Thoughts
Prince, yeah there are some players on Coleman video. I think it was one of the inside Backers. But here is a throw back question. What happened when teams didn’t block LT,
Got to block the backside especially when the kid has a knack for creating turnovers.
But a retort to my comments, what happened when they tried to block LT,
he still made plays!!
So the answer to the question, why Coaches not blocking backside with Coleman on the video? Probably a little of everything. Opposing Coaches to blame for not blocking backside. But a team like Seet Home, with the players they have, sometimes you have to pick your poison.
I would never leave Coleman unblocked. Too much of a play making Beast!
Thoughts?
Prince, North or South, score and why? Last season Sout won in a blow out.
North 21
South 14
Broyld/Burger can’t be stopped!!
Just
I think downstate has the better defense but I believe the north has better linemen, staff and the class AA player of the year with two of his familiar weapons and because burger I think will know how too put it together!! It will be the o-line and Ashton!! That will be too much for downstate staff!!!
North 28+
Down 14+
Just
I think coaches are not blocking backside because theyre just trying to make sure to block the playside!! Lol… When you look at Coleman 240lb he is very mobile and agile!! And he can run pretty well!!! ( you think he could play fb) the guy can move even when you look at his tape when some1 tried to block him he was just flat out too fast!! Or too strong for the guy!!... Watching him today will show how good he is!!!.... I was surprise teams didn’t go dbl TE form to contain the outside pressure!!!
Just
Nothing yet offenses lil out of sync
Prince, I changed my mind,
, I like the South 41- 7,
What did the score end up being?
Just
Lol!!.... Yea north was terrible!!!... The talent was second rate!! Compared too the south defense!!! I figured the south had the better defensive players!! But I thought the north had better offense but after takin Ashton off the field all of them look like class c, d talent could not match south the north receivers wher the worst talent on the field drop balls, bad routes, couldn’t create separation!!... North line couldn’t handle Wayne Williams d.t. he had very good game!! Bubby manns!! Typical forced fumble and a couple good tackles!!! Goodman!!... Incredible performance!! Was snub when he got co- player of the year in class A he is a legit d1 talent!!!! All the d1 scholarship players performed the rest didn’t show up!! Syracuse should be smiling all there guys made a play or two!!! Thoughts
Just!!
Did you see the north rb I dnt think any of them ran the ball for more then 3yards on a single touch!!!... I didnt see anyone from rush touch the ball outside of Ashton!!!... The class d,c,b,a backs wher tooooooooooooo slowwwwwwwwww!!!!
Prince, I didn’t catch the game. Yeah, I would have handed 15 to 20 to Woodford(#4 Rush), so that makes absolutely no sense at all that he did not get 1 touch. Did Burger forget what Woodford did to the Troy D?
I guess he treated it like youth soccer where everyonne has to feel good and play, LOL
That or South maybe just had too much talent. Two blowouts in a row for the South
Does this make Burger- Dirienzo even?
Just
...... But it appeared the lesser talented guys touch the ball for the upstate team!!!
Ashton played but he didnt appear to have played a’s many plays a’s the other Qb’s mayo and wollford didn’t touch the ball once!! Smh!! Didn’t understand that one!! Maybe burger was mad b/c they beat him!!!
Nah I dnt think it made easy because they didn’t get a chance too hit him with the wing!!!!’ ... lol
.
Some of the players couldn’t have been the best ny had to offer!!! If that was our best 100!!..... we are really playing bad football!!! Especially the linemen!!!
Prince… Broyld had more carries than any other player in the game: 13. He also threw five or six passes and was sacked a couple times, so he actually had the ball more than any other player in the game. Downstate just did a great job on him.
JOSH
I said it appeared as if ashton didn’t play as many plays as the other qb’s not ran the ball or threw the ball!!!..... snaps i was refering too…...
PPR,
To your point about Akron, I’m sure you know Akron is now coached by a Stepinac grad, Rob Ianello who was previously an assistant at Notre Dame. This was Ianello’s first recruiting class and there were a couple other NY players besides Goodman and Weston. This is definitely a good sign for NY players in general and local players in particular. I’ve heard several NYS players have already been offered by Akron for next year.
What a performance by Goodman! Let’s give him some credit for winning the MVP in a game with several other 1A commitments in it. Whoever doubted Goodman or Hunt’s ability to play QB in college may be re-thinking their ideas. Hunt has an excellent arm and is a superb athlete. Goodman, I think, could surprise a lot of people at the college level. I’d think it would take him a year or two to get comfortable in the Akron offense, but clearly he has the talent to play well at that level.
HOOPS
i will admit goodman and ashton wher the too best football players on the field !!.... the host on msg also mentioned that goodman didn’t have a set position at akron but thought he was a solid 1a player/athlete. i personally think he has proven in the right sysytem with tthe right ppl and time to develop he could be a 1a qb he didn’t pass particulary well but i think he showed leadership and self control and field generalship!.. that convince me that he has the ability!!... i think being m.v.p. spoke volume of his ability. he proved what i had stated saturday that upstate defensive players where not as good as downstate!!...
I cant wait to see Goodman kick some D1 a$$
breaking news jon miller has completed a highlight tape of last year. It is very long and should be on youtube. It will entertain even the haters
Hoops, as you already know, I made the point about Akron,
.
This is no knock on Goodman but from the tapes I saw I have stated several times I did not think he was a D-1A QB. Doesn’t mean he can’t play QB at the College level just means what it says..D1A IMO. No shame in it, probably toughest position to make it at. It has been reported on here that Goodman was recruited for QB so shocking the MSG announcers say he does not have a set position. Actually I am nto shocked. I also said in the article that was originally posted here that Akron Coach said one too many times for my liking that he was a great athlete.
I will happily be proven wrong when the time comes. But here is the question. If I am proven right, will some of you be man enough to give credit where it is due,
Doubt it!
But have a retort and we will see what the future brings. As previously stated I am on a Stepinac-New Ro Truce!!
