Even with the high school season over, Mount Vernon coach Bob Cimmino won again.
This time, Cimmino and assistants Brian Pritchett and Dwayne Murray coached the East team to a 111-96 victory over the West in the 34th McDonald’s All-American Game at the United Center on Wednesday night.
Michael Gilchrist of St. Patrick’s (Kentucky) and James McAdoo of Norfolk Christian (UNC) of the East were named co-MVPs of the game. I watched the game this morning on DVR. Brad Beal of Chaminade College Prep (Florida) and Anthony Davis of Perspectives Charter School (Kentucky) were both very impressive as well.
Cimmino and his assistants earned plenty of face time last night on ESPN. They were scheduled to fly back to New York today. No doubt there will be word of future celebrations for the Federation champion Knights in the coming days.
