POK vs. Somers (no Brainer) Though I love the support for the Nyack game, you gotta be realistic here.
I would say the game of the week is Nyack at Roosevelt because it will really show how good or not good Roosevelt and Nyack actually are considering Harrison took it to Roosevelt. But one game that is under the radar that actually has alot riding on it is Eastchester at Sleepy Hollow. Both teams need wins desperately to keep there hopes alive at all. Plus, its kind of a big game because Sleepy Hollow coach Steve Borys is a teacher at Eastchester HS and a former assistant coach at Eastchester before he left for the head job at Sleepy Hollow.
Here comes the Class A bias. JJEF-Mahopac is huge. For JJEF they have to prove this past week’s blowout at the hands of Arlington was just a game that got away. For Mahopac a convincing win will solidify them as the top team in AA North.
Somers will beat Poughkeepsie. It is there homecoming.
JJEF-Mahopac is the most intriguing matchup. Roosevelt may give Nyack some trouble with the spread, but I think Roos will be like a worn-down fighter in the second half and Nyack will take it to them.
Somers (3-0) vs. Poughkeepsie (3-0). Hard to go past two undefeated teams who are vying for favorable playoff seedings… Of course, the recent playoff history both teams have had with each other adds even more spice to this matchup…
wow!!! game of the week has to be poughkeepsie at somers. talk about being torn between teams. my daughter is a cheerleader at poughkeepsie but somers coach dematteo is my former coach and father figure. i will be at poughkeepsies sideline. have to support my daughter. poughkeepsie is quick really quick their defense has been dominant for most part. somers is somers coached by one of the best in the section. think somers has a chip on their shoulder from being knocked out of playoffs by pk last yr. i gotta go with gut feeling based on coaching…....somers 35-21. Told ya, looks like we have a slam dunk after all. POK vs. Somers has 107 votes in a single day, the next game (Nyack vs. Roosevelt) has only 45!
Dematteo is a geneus coming to gameplans. This somers team is not as good as other teams in the past but will win due to Dematteo.
josh you should have known two 3-0 teams in pk and somers, with history especially last yrs win by pk in playoffs and being this week is somers homecoming. wow may be game of the year. is poughkeepsie that good or have the teams they’ve played been that bad? can somers really be at it again after losing so many key players last yr. whoever wins this game wins it all!!!!! No doubt that Tony DeMatteo is one of the all-time greats in Section 1 football coaching, but Poughkeepsie coach Ken Barger has beaten Somers at home twice: once while coaching Lourdes in 2004, and the other time in PK’s playoff win last year. Still, this contest figures to be the Pioneers’ sternest test this season; no team wants to lose its Homecoming game…

Fox Lane has GOT to beat Ossining in AA Central – this 6 game, 4-league-game “season” is just a sad, sad thing. A good team with one bad game and you could be toast. We played 9 or 10 season games, each league team we faced twice, out of league once – three weeks later it was states. But that was then, and the south where school starts earlier.
And Yorktown must beat Scarsdale in AA Central to seal the deal – or a 3 way tie could be looming. Is there not another AA league so up in the air as AA Central? North West and South are about 2 teams – Central is about 3, maybe 4 if Ossining tops FL and Town tops ‘dale. Of course, in the end i is New Roch and WP, maybe Mahopac -those schools are huge. Town and FL 30 students over the AA limit can’t compete with those big dogs.

Mahopac is not huge. I believe Mahopac has around 1500 students. Only what 400 more than Ytown. Mahopacs been in the same league as Arlington for years and they have over 3k. If you have the talent you should win.

Poughkeepsee at Somers should be the game of the week followed by Nyack Roosevelt but a good game to watch will be the Red Raiders&Gryphons on Friday Night in Torn Valley considering those Ramapo kids will be angry after last years 20-7 loss in Thiells yes I’m a Red Raider HOMER YES THIS GAME DOESN’T Have League Title implications for as much as it did in previous years but I’m saying that may be an interesting thing to watch
Poughkeepsie, Somers game of the week easily. Whoever wins should win the league and go to the A final. Somers gets going on all cylinders at their homecoming, and they remember last years upset as well. Somers by 10.

I think Somers vs Poughkeepsie should be the game of the week the Tuskers remember every bit of the loss in last years playoff game and have been training very hard and practicing very hard all for this game its Somers homecoming and its gonna be big Coach has been quoted in saying that “This will be the biggest regular season game in Somers Football History” it should be a amazing matchup of two very very talented squads.
