IT WAS A GREAT DAY FOR THE HARRISON FOOTBALL PLAYERS TO REALIZE THAT THEY CAN WIN WITHOUT 4 OF THEIR STARTERS ., THE EAGLES ARE A GREAT TEAM AND SCARED US HUSKEY FANS THE FIRST HOUR., DECARLO AND DELUCA ARE SENSATIONAL AND WILL GIVE ANY TEAM TROUBLE. THE DAY WAS GREAT TO START WITH THE DEDICATION OF THE FIELD AND BEING WITH THE MCCILLICCUDY FAMILY .,THE FOUR CHILDREN AND CONNA ,JOHNS WIFE WERE THRILLED WITH THE COMPLETION OF JOHNS DREAM, MY WIFE LOOKED AT JOHN JR. AND COULD NOT BELIEVE WHAT A BIG YOUNG MAN HE BECAME ,,,WHO REMEMBERED HIM AS A SKINNY LITTLE KID.,,ALL IN ALL WE DROVE HOME TO OUR CANDLEWOOD LAKE HOME CONTENT, WITH A STOP AT WENDYS FOR A CELEBRATION SNACK
Congrats to coach T and the team. So proud of everyone, particularly the seniors; Duke, Tanner, Brandon, etc. You guys have been a special bunch since 7th grade. You’ve worked hard and stayed together through it all. This is your year. Keep doing your thing and take it all the way!
Congrats Huskies…..
Way to adjust Harrison. The turning point of the game happened in the second quarter. Eastchester was moving the ball at will…ready to go up by two TD’s. Harrison called time out. They then promptly got rid of the sit back and read to attack. What a difference! Hopefully Harrison stays in that type of D for good.
What a terrific venue for HS football under the lights in front of a big crowd at Harrison, the only thing missing was the upset. This looks to be the best Harrison team I have seen in recent memory, even missing some players. The kicker is a huge weapon especially against a team that has had success in the return game. Good game Huskies, and good luck the rest of the way.
You gotta give credit to the players who stepped up.They made the difference between winning & losing. Also give credit to Artie & staff who made the right adjustments.Harrison smothered the Eastchester running game in the second half, basically worn them down.Way ta go Huskies.
My thoughts from the game were as follows:
1) Harrison and eastchester are not big teams at all; i was a bit suprised with harrisons lack of size but know how to win.
2) eastchester had no motivation starting the second half and came out very flat.
3)eastchester only has two consistently good players in DiCarlo and DeLuca
4) harrison should get top one or two seeds going into playoffs, depending on the rest of schedule.
A NEW FUTURE HARRISON RUNNING BACK STAR WAS BORN SATURDAY, AND HE IS ONLY A SOPHOMORE #22 HILLARD HE IS LIGHTENING FAST AND FEARS NO ONE
Eastchester bought plenty of fans last night. If you win with class, you should lose with class.Where did everybody go? Support your team, they came to play.
TO JIM, I MET 10580 AT THE GAME AND WE HAD A PLEASANT RONDEVUE , AND HE TOLD ME THAT AT THE NYACK….RYE GAME A BIRD FLEW OVER YOU AND DUMPED POOP ON YOU …YOU HAVE A NEW ALIAS NAME NOW AND IT POOPER HA HA HA I WAS SUPPOSE TO MEET YOU BUT IT NEVER HAPPENED ….IT IS GREAT WHEN SOME STRANGER WALKS UP TO YOU AND SAY ,” ARE YOU BIG JOE”
Big Joe….I hope it wasn’t a message from the big McGillicudy in the sky!!!! The Harrison coaches were right in back of me and the flock of geese did not bomb them!!!! ! always thought it was supposed to be “Ham on Rye”.......The next time you talk to Mr. McGillicudy tell him to leave the geese at Feeley Field where they belong!
Big Joe,
Will Hilliard is a junior and won’t be starting once Accompora returns.
to footballsays, i know that when ACAPORA returns he will star because he has more experience and is better, hillard will play next year and probably at saunders when artie uses all players when he reaches 30 points
I would like to give the kicker from Harrison…i think his name is Roberto Bruno his due…he kept Eastchester buried at the 20 yard line all night with touch backs…Artie has has way of getting great kickers with great Italian names….McLovin it!
Big Joe…I saw your post about class A getting the most and best blogs and I agree…keep it going.
Good win for Harrison. I wish they played Nyack in the regular season, that would be a heck of a game that would decide whos on top. Hope they meet in the playoffs…
For those of you who have seen both Nyack and Harrison, who is better?
I have to give the edge to Nyack as I think they will control the line of scrimmage. Tough call however. Harrison has a kicking game, but Davis is a tougher guy to bring down than Knox.
Guys i know were true Huskies for life but Rye looks real good this year i know they lost to Nyack but jesus i dont think we have a chance DAMNIT I HATE RYE but god there good. We can never beat them there just better athletes then us
Eagles, good question, but don’t rely on last nights performance for the answer.Four of Harrison’s best weren’t playing. We’ll just have to wait and see what Harrison’s answer to Davis is,when and if they meet in the playoffs…..
Anthony’s keep the faith.I think the meatball wedges are going to your heads.Eastchester will give Rye a game.
Huskie Forever i like how your thinking but harrisons pass defense has more holes then the swiss they serve over there. Maroon and white runs through my veins but that garnets pass offense is the truth and im nervous.
Im not too sure if eastchester will be able to give Rye a game, because you know all those Rye kids want revenge for eastchester last year snapping there 60 game section 1 winning streak. Rye probably has this game circled on there calender since the game schedule came out. But damn that Eastchester team last year was great, it was just dissapointing we couldnt see them play into the playoffs because of horrible injuries to multiple two way starters
After watching Rye get dismantled by Nyack,it’s obvious that they 1)Are weak up front 2)Have no real power running game 3)Are not the same Rye team from previous years…
Harrison youth stepped up big time last night. Vinny, Charlie and Tom all played like seniors but they’re only sophomores. Keep up the good work guys. Great team win!
Thought Knox would steal the show, but I agree, great effort from Huskies coming up.
URGENT NOTE:
Please note there are several people posting under the name, “Anthony’s deli”.
the above posts were submitted from a different user. (you can tell from the awful spelling displayed above)
please disregard the above, this name has been compromised
italians kick better than any one else-harrison husky- BRUNO for prez
eastchester gave nyack one heck of game, id say better then the one rye did. rye is gonna take it to eastchester though by 2 or 3 touchdowns because they r seekin revenge like no other. but this eastchester/harrison game showed us alot i think. harrison without arguebly their best player in alvora and another great one in acompora dominated eastchester after the first half. when harrison is at full strength you have to give them the edge over nyack right now since they both played eastchester, and harrison handled them better short staffed in a game that the eagles wanted more than anything. harrison 1 seed, nyack 2, rye 3. goin to be one of the better playoffs in awhile, especially if 2 undefeated teams meet with harrison vs nyack, or an epic harrison vs rye rivarly section final.
I have to disagree and say that the talent level overall in Class A this year compared to the past 2 years has gone down. Teams that have definetly lost alot of talent and are not as good as in the past 1 or 2 years: Eastchester, Somers, Poughkeepsie, Roosevelt, Rye. Plus many more teams that also lost alot but those were the main ones. Class A is still very competetive but the talent level has gone down.
Anyone seen Hollow Fan lately?
Perhaps he is out looking for Sleepy Hollow wins. Maybe Spring Valley on 10/16 in the season finale.
Never thought I’d hear anyone begging to play Saunders, but Hollow Fan might just be the first.
Perhaps HF should check next year’s (2011) schedule as he will be lucky to find any wins this season.
Had the distinct pleasure on Saturday night to introduce myself to BIG JOE, Harrison’s # 1 Husky. He looked spledid in his Harrison Maroon sweater glistening under the McGuillicuddy Field lights.
For those who have taken shots at BIG JOE in the past, including myself – shame, shame as he is a gem of a man. Only wish I had met him sooner.
As nice as the “Big McG” is, I don’t see the parking and seating capacity at the “Big McG” as sufficient to host the traditional numbers associated with a Rye/Harrison Game. We all know that the Marching Huskies Band takes 100+ seats out of circulation what with the Band Members and their instruments. What are Harrsion’s plans for HHS/RHS 2011?
garnet10580
This discussion has been talked about by many. HHS doesn’t have the parking, let alone the capacity to hold a Rye-Harrison meeting. Let alone, both fans would be seated on both sides. If they were to meet in the playoffs or the 2011 game, there has been talk that that particular game would be moved back to Feeley Field.
Garnet10580 – already looking to the 2011 game? (JK)
valid point. McGuillicuddy Stadium is fantastic, but could never hold a Harrison/Rye game. the school cannot handle the parking and there are not enough stands at the moment.
hopefully, they schedule the game at the historic Feeley Field, which has hosted so many past Harrison/Rye games.
More important question – what is the status of the “rye tailgate area?” will the local construction be completed in time to clear space for the many tailgatrss/cars that occupy that space at rye home games?
there are a couple of adjustments that the eagles should make on both sides of the ball there are also a few players that are skilled and can make a play but are not put in… for what reason
Class A Fan…You need to get the chip off of your shoulder….You sound like a guy that is barely out of school and thinks that things are so different this year compared to when you were playing a couple of years ago. I think it is a common trait with young people to think that it was “the best” when they played but as you get older you realize things stay the same and actually get better. I think there are some very good teams out there and some very special players. Teams will have their ups and downs but you cant tell me that Nyack isn’t one of the best teams that has come along in the past few years. As far as Players go there is Davis and four or five other very talented player on Nyack….Harrison has a bunch of talented players as does Rye, Sleepy and Roosevelt. I know that you are an Eastchester guy like me and maybe our team is little short on star talent but they have a bunch of tough kids that I believe will step up and meet the challenge of salvaging the season.
eliminators…I agree with you 100%....I am sure that the game will be reviewed and hopefully changes will be made. A few kids got into the Harrison game and made some plays (tackles and blocks). Like I said before….If you have tomato cans out there the only thing you will make is tomato soup. YOU HAVE TO WANT IT EAGLES!!!!!
If Eastchester plays four solid quarters of football, they are capable of taking Rye out.
eastchester needs to change it up and run something other than the veer. why call veer when your down by 14+ points with 9 minutes left in the 4th quarter.
class a fan,
i agree with you that the talent has decreased this year but only slighty. the competetion is just as good, if not better though. Rye lost some studs but has a better and more determined Eck back. Nyack is improved, Harrison has upgraded significantly, Greely is a force with one of the sections best quarterbacks. Roosevelt has some incredibly athletes, very similar team to last years except no one can match the athleticism of tht walker/thomas combo. being from eastchester you probably feel the talent sucks just cause your eagles are completely depleted and only have a handful of real good players unlike last years which was loaded, jus caught a few bad breaks. dont hate the talent this year, it will always be hard to compare graduating classes because there are always some great athletes and talent, but this is true every year. Nyack’s Davis= best player in the section, no denying that talent
I think if Rye can work out a couple issues on the D-Line and execute better on both sides of the ball, they’re even better then NYACK. I think Rye has a real chance at a section championship this year. After that wake up call against NYACK I believe Rye comes back stronger and is able to compete for a section final.
garnet4567….the game vs Nyack wasn’t even close….could have been a lot worse.

My guess is no. Looks to me like the construction equipment covering 40% of “Tailgate Triangle” will still be in place on October 16. Suggest you arrive very, very early for a space.
Rye needs to get past Eastchester, very tough team, before they even think of a Nyack rematch.
Construction on water mains in Rye HS area will on-going for 6 more weeks.
McLovin…I agree that the game between Rye and Nyack turned into a butt kicking, but Nyack was not moving the ball against Rye early in the game. The first three posessions Nyack went nowhere and Rye was moving up and down the field pretty much at will before some special teams mishaps and turnovers gave Nyack the ball back. If Rye had been playing with a lead, it would have been much harder for Nyack to grind it out and pound Rye down the way they did. Davis wasn’t getting big holes for most of the game as much as he was running up the backs of his huge linemen with unstoppable power…3-4-5 yds. at a clip. Later in the game when Rye was on the ropes and had taken the physical beating that they did, the holes got bigger and the runs became longer. I don’t know if these teams will meet again, but if they do…I wonder how the game would go if Rye scored a few times in the early going. If you think the score could have been a lot worse, are you talking about another late TD ? I am taking nothing away from Nyack. They kicked butt and took advantage of most of the turnovers and breaks they got, but it is very possible Rye could challenge them if they were to meet again.
Jim…Anything is possible but Davis is very impressive and Nyack has a few other players that can do some damage as well. If they stay healthy I don’t see anybody stopping them. The one thing I think all of the Class A followers will agree on is that almost every game…every weekend is a good one!
McLovin…I agree. For Rye to have a shot they must be clicking on all cylanders offensively.
well we’ll see biggest game of the year is gonna be Harrison-Rye regular season should be key to see how the playoffs will unfold
