Section 1 Recruiting will host its annual Player Evaluation Day on Saturday, May 22nd at New Rochelle High School. The event will cost $60 per player. It will test players in several different drills under the watchful eye of several college coaches. Here’s an explanation of the various drills.
This will be the fourth year for the combine, which has attracted a number of the area’s top players. Players will be able to download forms to be mailed in on the website starting this weekend or can register the morning of the event. The list of colleges expected to attend the event has not been finalized, but well more than a dozen have attended in the past, including several that locked up Section 1-area players who were seniors last season.
If you have any questions about the event, let me know and I’ll do my best to answer them or have them answered.

My son went to this a few years ago with my nephew. It is a nice day to show the kids what’s out there.
Go and test yourself Players !!!!
Why $60.00? What if a student athlete cannot afford it?
Stanner Grad.,
The $60 goes to pay for all the many costs involved in putting on an event like this. Considering the tremendous benefit the student athlete receives, $60 is very inexpensive. Even on the most modest of budgets the chance to receive official times, and to be seen and coached by college coaches is well worth sacrificing other things to save up for this event.
STANNER GRAD:
i bet you if the $60 were going to the new iphone or new pair of sneakers the student/athlete would find a way to pay for it.
$60 is pennies, you are paying for a GREAT service that will be provided!
Thanks Keith.

It might be worth asking, what happened to the possible sponsor? $60 jambrones for a 40 time is tough. Call me the villain, but I love what Keith is trying to do, just confused why there is no sponsors.
Bad Info give it to me…
Just a Fact,
I appreciate the support, but players get way more than just a 40 time. Players get official times in 5 different events, as well as my credibility in those times and heights and weights. Ask any college football coach and they will tell you they put zero stock in combine numbers. There are way too many people doing them for purely business purposes and those people can’t be trusted. Think about it. If your running a combine and times are slow, you have a choice. Report the true times and risk losing business next year, or report fabricated faster times and keep the business running. The people running these combines are not accountable to the college coaches. College coaches don’t even know who these people are. I do know the college coaches however, and am accountable to them for the numbers produced at the Combine. Because of my association with the New Rochelle football program, and having played for Jerry Azzinaro (Oregon’s D-Line coach and a guy with coaching associates all over the east coast), I have personal connections with almost every Division I program in the Northeast, most of the Division II programs, and a tremendous amount of the Division III programs. Those coaches know that whatever height, weight and times appear on the Combine results are 100% accurate, and can be trusted. It means that my combine times are the only ones (other than their own if a player attends their camp) that they trust. That is worth it’s weight in gold! But wait, that’s not all. Not only do I feed them lunch (think that’s a small expense, ask any parent of a teenage football player how cheap it is to feed them lunch!), but I bring in college coaches to coach the players. I’ve had as many as 13 different colleges represented, and that number grows every year. If the players of Section 1, Section 9 and NYC ever would understand the tremendous value they are receiving, I’d fill up to capacity of 250 in a heart beat and would have to run two or three of them!!! The Blue-Gray Combine charges $95, and that is JUST for the times, not for college coaching! The Boston College Camp charges $100 per day, but you have a 4 day minimum ($400). I do what they are BOTH doing for $60! It really is amazing what the player gets for $60. If my expenses were lower I’d charge even less. I did try and get a sponsor so that the players could attend for free, but that sponsorship fell through. After several weeks, the company said they would “cover” the event, but not sponsor it. It’s a shame if you ask me, because I know people would watch the event, and they would make 5 or 6 times the cost in advertising revenue. Unfortunately they disagreed and failed to sponsor the day. So the bottom line is that I am just as confused as you are why there are no sponsors. If you know of any corporation that would like to sponsor the event, please put them in touch with me.
Keith, great post. Thanks for the info. Again, you have a great product, hopefully the kids will take full advantage. I wish I had the connections to get the sponsor. I personally will keep my ears open. Hopefully other bloggers who might be in a position to help will step forward in the future. I guess you are looking 200 kids at $60 would be $12k. 250 kids would be $15k. Not a lot of money for a Company.
Let me ask you this and if you do not respond, definitely fair. Dutchessfbfan put a list of contacts back in Jan. or Feb. Were you able to reach out to any of those people?
Sponsors you would think would do it:
Nike
Gatorade
Powerade
Pepsi
Coke
Under Armour
whoever makes the helmets these days?
Just a Fact,
I did not see the list DFB put out, so I’m not sure to what you’re referring. The problem with the companies you listed is that this event is too small for them. Back when I started this thing four years ago I called all of them and they very politely declined because they said it’s not enough exposure for them. One of the guys I work with at New Rochelle (Rich Tassello) played HS football at Iona with the Cummings brothers who are very high up at Under Armour (Brian went to Maryland with the co-founders), and he asked them to sponsor and they said the venue was too small, and now they do their own Combine series and All-Star Game. I was thinking more like a local company that wants to reach out to the high school athlete, a company that just started a whole channel devoted to the local high school athlete, that has millions of dollars devoted to the high school athlete, but they didn’t see the benefits of sponsoring this event. Foolish if you ask me! Maybe Charles Dolan reads this blog and the guys in charge of such things will catch hell from him for making a mistake in not seeing the value of this opportunity…until then I have to pay the bills with the fee. If any bloggers are in a position with a local company that can see the value in sponsorship, please contact me. You can email me through my website, or contact Josh, he can get a hold of me.
Keith,
Below is the post I was referring to. It was a post about people who could show up for the Section Dinner to speak. But I just remembered all the names that were listed from the area and the level of success they have had. Impressive! I thought a possible call, and one of these people might be able to help sponsor or be able to influence a sponsorship. Just a thought. I am sure if Dutchess was posed with the challenge, you might get names and numbers by tomorrow. Maybe not.
